ZRX Headlight bulbs

So... one of the headlight bulbs kicked the bucket... the OEM is a 12V 60/55 W. And they are H4's I think.
So any of you guys put a white (super white?) bulb in there on your stock headlight socket? or just went with the stock bulbs?

I don't want to get any powerful bulbs...willing to stick with 60/55... but wanted to get some nice white light instead...

Any suggestions?

Ive got the H4 type globe in my ZRX 1200 but I went for a 55/60 white ice/white light rather than the standard type, It made a big difference to night riding.

Another option, if you want to change the look, is the Raybrig reflector.

Both Nelso & I have them and you get much better lighting - and an improved (IMHO) look ;)

I think there are also cheap imitations available on ebay.

Hey Phil, I was planning on getting the headlight relay kit mod from zrxoa in the future... and grab the Raybrig reflector then maybe for the best results...so might not spend money on it right now. Just two good bulbs should do the job i guess.... :)
Btw, do they have Raybrig reflectors for the 1200S? Didn't see much options around ebay..apart from rectangular shaped reflectors.

@S man, would you know which brand and how much were they?

I will be riding from Melbourne to Gold Coast in a couple of weeks, so would like something good for the night riding. The stock lights didn't really impress me on pitch dark highways.

Anybody tried the Bluevision/Essential Vision from Phillips? Or the 'Calibre' brands at SuperCheapAuto? Or the Narva ?

A bit more google and random link clicks got me this:
http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catalogu ... maint=3190 : A proper xenon filled globe :)
Some au online retailer is selling them for $70 for a twin pack.... hmmm :\

No one had the Hellas' in stock around Vic, so went for the Phillips BlueVision 4000k light. They are not exactly white though...but appeared whiter/brighter..but still had a tinge of yellow in the light beam.

Will adjust the beam tonight and will go out for a spin to let you guys know how it went. Hope it rains tonight...so I can get a proper test done :)

haha.. I thought I'll go for a spin tonight...but think I have better chances on getting Megan Fox's mobile no than seeing some dry roads today :P
You working this week? If I can get all the packing done, I might be able to slip out for a spin without facing the guns from the Mrs :)

I have the zrxoa relay mod kit sitting in the garage now waiting to be fitted and have the reflector on already so I should be able to give some feedback how they work together early in the new year. The reflector made a big difference by itself but I think the slightly blue tint that Phil got is a bit better than the clear one I have.

Hey Nelso,
I tried searching around ebay for the Raybrig reflectors, but couldn't find any. Theres only a rectangular Raybrig headlight being sold currently.

Whose relay mod did you get? GregCouch/Kwick?

Will wait for your post once you install them.

@Scotty, lets see if we can plan out a coffee ride before I leave.... I'll text you once am done with the packing, give me a day or two though. :)

The headlight upgrade was a harness made by Frayed Sanity but I'm not sure if he's still doing them or not. I ordered it before I moved house so it's been packed away for a while waiting for the holidays so I can find the time to fit it. Phil organised the reflector so you will have to ask him for details where to find them.

We got our Raybrig's from Mori. As I said earlier there are cheap imitations on ebay, ours are the genuine article. Bloody tuff they are too ;)
