What should you see in the little hole on the left side?

Manual says:

"Confirm that the projection of the battery tray fits into the hole in the left side of the frame"

Mine looks like this: It just doesn't look quite right to me....

hmmm, didnt know that was there, explains why i have to jiggle it Looks like its hidden under the airbox/tank cover?

if the r/h side cover goes on easily all is good.

I'm just a little concerned, as the same mechanic that routed my left switch wiring wrong also replaced the battery. I don't know how it all went together so I think I will be checking this as well. Thanks

Oh yeah there's a plastic bit sticking out that hole. Yours is definitely not normal.

Thanks Paddo, that's what I suspected. Will have to pull it out now and see what has been put in wrong.

The mystery of what's in the battery box has been solved!!

The jump starting cable had not been tucked under the battery cover and tucked into the battery tray on the right side of the bike. Instead it was jammed in the back of the battery box and no doubt the battery box would have been forced into position when doing up the battery box cover bolts.
So apart from a bit of damage to the rubber cap on the jump staring cable and an hour of my time to install it where it should be(as per the last piccy), all is good again.

So, the list of problems from my last service reads like this:

The oil drain plug was leaking oil

The tabs connecting the left and right fairings beneath the motorcycle were not correctly fitted

There was no coolant in the radiator overflow bottle – not a drop!!!

There was a light 5 cm scratch on the right side of the front fairing between the removal nuts. Luckily it polished out.

The right side upper infill panel had not been correctly clipped into position.

An excessive amount of chain lube overspray. Bloody everywhere!!!!

The left wiring harness was not connected (no lights or indicators). I returned to the workshop, where they plugged it back in so that I could get home. Further inspection (thanks to Paddo) I found that it was routed wrong and had been damaged by hitting on the radiator fan.They also ripped the rubber cover that sits underneath the wiring and had unclipped the plastic protector tray in order to push the wiring up past the plastic cover.

The radiator overflow hose was routed wedged between the engine and the radiator fans, instead of above the plastic protector thingy.

The oil cooler hose was crushed between the radiator overflow bottle and a hose clamp on the radiator hose. That explains the rise in operating temp I observed.

The battery jumper cable thingy squashed as above.

I think a phone call to the dealership is in order... I have already spoke to them about a few of these issues and they were really good about it. So they bloody should......

Those blokes are trained to do the job properly,if you want that kind of neglect done to your bike get your mates on the piss one friday night and do the job yourselfs (not saying your mates are usless)but those blokes should be ashamed of running their business like that and be held responsible for their shonky workmanship,i bet they did it right when they took your money

few years ago a bloke took his bike to a well known bike shop in ringwood for a service, on way home he crashed and died, reason, guy forgot to do up sump plug, came undone, oil everywhere, crashed into a wire rope, i think from memory, was all over the news at the time. bit hard to say sorry to a dead guy...............
