Jill Singer has been sacked. Remember Jill? The Herald Sun’s opinion columnist who wrote, “So, for those who now grieve for Simoncelli, ask yourselves: Isn’t there perhaps just a speck of blood on your hands?”
According to The Age newspaper, Herald Sun Editor Simon Pristel wrote her a letter, saying the opinion pages could no longer “accommodate” her column but wished her well for the future. (courtesy mcnews.com.au)

Now we just need to get rid of Yumi Stynes and George Negus for their appalling comments during the week!

Plus 2 !

they had a bloke on the tele the other night - a decorated Vietnam War veteran - who said that George Negus has no pineapples and does not deserve to be called an aussie. He then called him a gutless wonder with no balls.

I work with this bloke, and he made the best call I have heard in years. Well said mate :kuda:

I hant seen those comments, what a joke. The guy (Cpl Roberts-Smith) is a deadset legend for the way he has handled himself not only a the theatre of war but after these two fucksticks made completely uncalled for remarks. I have never liked Yumi Stynes and now have little to no respect for George No guts. That is woeful journalism IMHO

Cpl Ben Roberts-Smith, you ARE a legend.

And the way he accepted their apology is a measure of the man. Maybe we can let him have a shot at Jilly with his sniper rifle?

Well aren't we all media band wagon jumpers. I posted in the original thread about this Jill (who is a twat btw, but for many other reasons). If you look at what she wrote, I am talking the whole article not the edited text that most read, you will find what she was suggesting is not wrong, sure the way she wrote was inflammatory. What Jill was suggesting that as motor sport enthusiasts, we want to see the best dancing with death, if that wasn't the case local club racing would be on tv. It isn't as we know that as good as the club racers are they aren't that last .1% who won't roll out of the throttle, who won't give up, they want to win and are prepared to risk it all in the pursuit.

No one wants to see someone die (well most people) however the highlight reels are always full of the crashes and humans do gravitate to a crash. Fact is if we want them to be bashing handle bars at 300km/h, sliding the bike, taking it the edge, this has a consequence and that is sometimes the best get it wrong and die. There is no shame in that, its just the way it is, it is what makes it exciting. Opinions are meant to challenge your thinking, it is okay to read such things with an open mind

As for the for the channel 10 show, how is it that a show that has 2/5 of sweet nothing of an audience makes headlines about two comments taken out of context??? Recommend watching the whole clip and not just edited piece most got.

You have to love the media
