Hi,

I'm looking for some feedback. The stock Ohlins steering damper on my zx6r 2010 dosen't seem to do much in the way dampering, I noticed this on a recent trackday. Can you get a race kit put in them..? new oil..? and what price am I up for..? is this an easy mod for my mechanic to do..?

Feedback welcomed, cheers Fossi

I heard a lot of different opinions on this... in the end, I got the real Ohlins part and I'm happy with it now.

Having said that, a well setup suspension will cure 90% of the issues a steering damper is meant to solve. Accelerating over the ripple strip however, it does not. lol

Just get a reputable suspension bloke to sort it.
I think they replace the valving and solder up the hole that is in it from the factory.
Then it works like it should.
About $120

Mine works perfectly

+1 for Mr zenodamper he is here on the forums I got mine done through him took 2 weeks and works great. He is located in sydney but.

Getting Dampner re-done didn't make me go faster but did get rid of the mental headshake's i was getting under power out of faster corner's. I run mine on 10 clicks but before the re-valve I had it set flat out and it did nothing.

Unfortunately Zeno won't do the ZX6R damper (yep, they're different from the ZX10R ones)... I asked. Apparently it would cost almost as much as getting the 'real' ohlins and would never perform the same.

I think it depends on wether it has a blue ohlins or black ohlins marking in it.

I have heard the internals on the black one can't be revalved properly. Just hearsay mind you I don't know for sure.
Just know that mine was done and it works fine.

Mine was the blue one as well... still no go. I don't think I've ever seen the dark logo on a ZX6R.

I think it's the ones that have Ohlins laser etched that cannot be done.
