Rain sucks!

After a lot of screwing around I finally got a 4 degree timing advancer for my '98 6R. I wacked it in, fired her up and I could tell the difference just by the way she started from cold. She sounds tougher at idle if that makes any sense. Can't wait to test ride her. Only problem is its been raining for the last two days.

I think its on the way Colette. Bugger it all. I have been off the bike for nearly 5 weeks and I am finally able to go for a ride and it starts to rain.

Hey Aussie Ninja, do you have pics or anymore info on this timing advancer? Sounds like the rain has given you some spare time

I got it from starcycle.com. It cost me $94. There is a couple available for your F. The part no. for 4 degrees is RTR-KAW-31-04 or for a bit more you can get an adjustable one and the part no. for that is RTR-ADJ-KAW-31. They look like the std ignition plate but when you put it in you can see it sits slightly more advanced than the original. They are made by factory pro. Check out factorypro.com.

Hey thanks mate. I checked out the factorypro site and I am thinking I need to get myself one of those Gearbox star kits. The 95 gearbox is so stiff it is nearly impossible to clutchless shift. I wasn't sure what I was going to do about it, but now I know.

No rain today and I'm happy to report the advancer has given the bike a noticable increase in torque through the whole rev range and a nice little extra shove in the hot zone. Yeah baby

try changing your clutch fluid!

I was amazed at the difference it made to my 95... both the clutch and shift lever require much less force, and clutchless shifts are nice and smooth too

um how does changing the clutch fluid afect a cable clutch???

also if ur not USING the clutch, how does the fluid come into play...

could b wrong here, but the new zx6r is a cable clutch isnt it?? the zx7r is one of the few fluid clutch bikes...other than tourers...

I do apologize, my 95 zx-9r has a hydraulic clutch so I just assumed

it changed the feel of the shifter, dont ask me why

Sure is but I think Sam is talking about his '95 zx6...
