the bike pulls nicely right thru to 12K, as long as i'm using 3/4 throttle( rough estimate), if i exceed this point, it cuts out n coughs n splutters like a rife old mole
i get the same thing from the bike when its stationary.....
when i sit at the lights, it intermittently will idle itself down and stall, while at other times, it idles fine
hints? tips, tricks please ppl?

my neighbour filled up and he bikes runing like crap, trouble starting, runing, popping and farting.
Not sure if she's going it sorted out yet, but it sounded like crap fuel.
And I believe Diesel had a similar issue with the ZX2R back firing and not running properly... But then he couldn't find the dipstick, but that's another story altogether.. lol
Sorry Diesel

im not a mechanic.. but it sounds as though the jets/butterflys could be dirty..coupled with clogged fuel filter.. you can get that.. (fuel delivery problem)
let us know what you come up with...

Yeah it really sounds like crap in the fuel to me. Could be a bad batch of the stuff, or rust from the tank in it or similar. As Momo said, start at the filter. Pull the thing out and clean it, and also check the lines and such for crap. Drain the carb float bowls (the little hex screws in the bottom of each carb), and also pull the tank off and swirl it around and then tip all the fuel out the filler hole. Wouldn't hurt to pull the fuel tap out and blow it out while you are at it too, you will proabably find crap in it too.
