Big Darren Lark who races in the P5 class just sent me this link, I know a few of you will enjoy watching these "real man bikes" dice around the great Bathurst layout.

I was born four years later. I love the 70s/80s UJMs. I was born too late haha. I guess that's why I ride the zrx. This video makes me want to see bikes back at Bathurst so badly.

f'n kids on holidays chewing up our quota - I will have a look at the clip. 1983 was a very good year from what I can recall

Great stuff Phil.
Sooooo many memories and stories came flooding back watching that little slice of Great Aussie motorcycleing history. How good is Phillis, Campbell, AJ and co,,, and Will Hagan.
To this day I recon that guy could tell you Anything you wanted to know about bike racing, down to who did what time in what race and when!
After watching that I was off to the archives and pulled out some slices of my Bathurst history and my then beloved New Z1R.
Oh them were the days.

The pipe was a Premiere from memory. Not sure who made them but they were the boss.

I liked the way Mick Hone "Suzuki" and Rob Phillis changed teams on the day for the win.
But I guess in the day a lot of things were swapped back then...like wife's for instance.

Phillis only clapped eyes on the bike the night before the race and pulls off a win on a bike he hasn't even ridden before against some of the best in the biz.
I think there were a couple of trade ins after the swapping was over. Winners are grinners Dave.
