zxr924 turbo nearly finished.
Well, after a lot of fuckin around i finally got my motor back together with the JE forged pistons. The engine is fitted to the frame and everything is fitted except radiators and exhuast. I have to get the exhaust modified to clear the sump. Should be running by the end of the week. FINALLY!!!!!

The turbo is a hi-flowed Hitachi HT-10. the fuel system is custom made Throttle bodies and plenum using bosch 240cc injectors, a peirburg pump and using a microtech MT-4 EMS. I fitted the radiators this morning and the exhaust will be tomorrow i hope. then the fun begins......... tuning

Wow man that is just awsome. That thing is going to fly!
So is this Hitachi hair drier anything like the ones they had on the rx7s, or something smaller?
Will we see it in another mag when it is finished?
I wish they allowed turbos in roadracing.....

So I take it it is an internal wastegate unit? And if the turbo is a little small for the engine, are you concerned about the wastegate at all? Because if it is too small the wastegate might get over-run by the volume and temp of the exhaust gas in the manifold, and boost creep might occur?
And what sort of boost figures are you going to run? This side of a bar? Also are you going to run it on Ultimate or something more exotic, and what compression do you have in the motor? Running a Knock sensor?
Your bike is so cool...... I am super jealous.

boost creep shouldnt be an issue if the wastegate was machined out large enough (providing it could be) while it was being highflowed
i recall he is running stock compression with high comp forgies and a spacer to bring the compression back to stock
going too small on the exhaust side isnt always a good idea, pinging will be a big issue if you cant get the exhaust gas out quick enough
but i figure he knows what hes doing, this isnt his first
btw, just outta curiosity, did the previous turbo bike blow up?

My mate is running a garrett GT-25 or maybe a 28.
That is probably a more suitable turbo, although it's not as rideable for on road use. As far as my turbo goes, the wastegate port has been machined as big as it can to avoid boost creep. I calculated my mew Comp ratio the other day and i'll be running 11:1 which is slightly lower than standard but the pistons are forged so i don't think i'll have a prob there as i'm only running 8-10psi. As far as the old motor goes, it was running like a champion the day i pulled it out, but the gearbox was a little tired(80,000km) of abuse. It was a stock 750, with the cast pistons with a comp ratio of 9.8:1. I ran it at upto 18psi and the pistons were fine. With the EFI you can tune it to be a little rich on boost to help keep thing cool. Once again, sacrificing a little power for reliablilty, but with over 200hp who gives a shit. I couldn't tell you how much it all cost as i've lost track, but unless you like to spend a lot of time in the garage, i'd probably just buy a 10. I've had it turboed for three years now and in that time i've gone bald........

sum1 has alot of time & money & a good shed
they're pretty clued up with mechanical shit
bolted on a big round thingy that blows oodles of air & fuel into the motor fast
they had a bita fukin round with sum finer details
end result will be your heart gettin a cardiovascular workout every time you get to about 5000rpm
your sphincter will get a work out 2 as it'll be puckering like a suction cup 2 keep ya 2 the seat
