Yeah it was at PI on friday

ran wide on turn 2 in the 5th session


hope to have her going pretty soon... main things i need at the moment are new switchgear on both sides ($$$) and a instrument bracket, the rest is fairly easy

malissa showed me the picks this morning but i was busy getting ready to head off. least you didn't hurt yourself i guess, and the bike doesn't look TOO bad. should be fairly easy on the $$ if your not too worried about it being all blingo again eh.

how you gunna go about fixing the subframe? gunna cut and re-weld or just bend it back and cross your fingers?

Shame to see... and precisely the reason I will never do a track day. It may be safer but at least if you have an off on the street you have insurance.

yeah it was a shame about the K5, i knew the guy and hes a pretty quick rider... he ran a ~1:54 in the slow group (which is damn good considering all the overtaking required) before going into A grade and crashing soon after around the same spot as i did

i ran a best of 1:57.09 shortly before the crash... getting about 265 down the straight plenty left in it too... not bad for a 'tourer'


yeah im not too worried about it looking A1, just as long as it rides well... will worry about making it schmick when it comes to resale, and that might not be for a long time

the subframe is hardly damaged, just a little ding where it bends from the factory... basically just straighten it out, hammer the creased bits flat, fill in any little dents and paint it - yes, these kwakas come from the factory with a painted frame... good thing as the frame was already scratched when i got it


yeah i saw that fairing madkaw, but i dont really need it, i actually have a set of near perfect side fairings & bellypan that only need a few welds, they were not on the bike luckily. have a fibreglass front fairing kicking around too, was gonna be my raceglass but wasnt ready in time... might see about making that a road fairing for now. beleive it or not the headlight is in pretty good nick, just needs its mounts welded/glued back on, the lense is fine. the instrument cluster came out pretty good too, still works and no cracks, just a tiny scuff mark that should come out with some wet and dry - lucky too, as this one only has 28k on the clock. Yes, im stupid for not stripping this stuff off the bike first. next time will only run a shift-i shift light methinks


madkaw your absolutely right about the zx9r's potency as a track bike, especially once i had the preload setup by the track mechanic... the only letdown are the rearsets, which cause the pegs to grind on all the tight corners no matter how far im leaning over (tho maybe im not flexible enough)... im not even tempted to try raising the forks thru the triple clamp, or raise the rear end... its already getting its fair share of headshake comming out of corners with the extra rear preload, and i dont want to have to fit a dampener... tip in is great too, especially now with a 180 rear (pilot power) rather than the 190 rear the bike had when i got it. will see what i can do about modding the stock rear sets rather than buy exxy ones for the next track day


no, im not in the slightest bit deterred from hitting the track again either rather it happen there than on the road. never had so much fun in my life up until the stack either. riding in the mountains doesnt hold a candle to it
