I took it to the track for the first time and the engine let go after only 26 km of thrashing........

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like the the bearings are shot, but I will take it to a mechanic before i put it out of my misery.

How many K's did it have?

Something is amiss, bike engines should be able to take a huge beating before they give in.

According to the speedo that came on the bike its got 21,000km on it, a bit soon to need a bottom end rebuild i would think, but who knows what was done to it??

Could have been an abused stunt bike before it wound up at auction.

I did fire up the track bike this morning....it sounded fine....no rattling noises.

In fact i couldn't pick any odd noises even at normal operating temp of 70-90 degrees.

So i left it to idle under the house til it was at the temp of 100 degrees it was at when the problem started on the track.

The rattle came back with a vengance.

Sounding like worn bearings, a fault that may have been there all along but i didn't find till i got to ring its neck for a good 10-15mins.

Maybe i should run 20-50 in my track bike instead of Motul 10-40 synth.

Could get me a few more track days out of it before it throws a rod...

r u sure it's a big end? They tend to rattle all the time, and would tighten up with temp. It sounds more like a cam chain.
