i have recently purchased diesels zx2r. i am wondering which setting to put the tank in when i leave it overnight. the reason for this question is i recently left the bike overnight and went to ride it the next day and the pertol was dripping from under the bike. is that from having it on the wrong fuel setting? also, where abouts do i check my oil levels. obviously im not that mechanically minded. thanks - bobcat

get that slack tart vince to show u.

honestly, whatever setting u put the switch on the fuel should not be leaking. The fuel tap should be on "ON" position, there's no need to change it when u park the bike. If its leaking then obviously a seal or the hose clamp or the hose could be faulty. U can easily find out where the leak is is u try to trace it back, not with a lighter tho :D

secondly, the bike should be on a level surface and not on the side stand. There will be a window on the right hand side of the bike at the bottom just where the fairing ends. the oil level should be half way up the window as a general rule of thumb. Some bikes have dipstick. not sure what urs might have.

hope that helped

I'd suggest to first look at the underside of the float bowls, this suggests to me either crapola has gotten between the float needle and seat, or one of the float needles has worn too much.

First suggestion is to turn the tap off, use a long screwdriver and drain the float bowls, do em up again, and see if it still does it. Remember to use something to catch the dripping fuel too.

OK, far as im aware you cannot turn off the fuel tap on a zxr250, they have no off position.
If you leave it on prime it will overflow (PRI)
May be the same on reserve.

When you park it leave it in the on position. From what ive been told the fuel tap works on sort of a vacuum, so unless the bike is running it will not draw fuel from the tank unless in prime or reserve.

To check your oil you have a small perfectly round hole toward the bottom/back of your right hand fairing. In daylight or using a torch look through the hole, you will see a window with full and empty markings. Thats your oil level.
But you absolutely have to have the bike level, otherwise the reading is useless.

on the A model, i found it jsut said in the manual to get the oil ABOVE and BELOW the top and bottom of hte window, so basiclly in the middle! i put in 2.5L with my mums measuring cups and it came out EXACTLY half way.. quite chuffed! :D
