Im getting a new front tyre on the bike next week and on the saturday i have a ride day booked at EC.
I am not going to get enough time to ride the bike before the day to scrub in the new front.
How many laps should i give it at the track before i can really give it to it?
Is there something else i could do before hand to make sure all the wax (or whatever it is called) is off the tyre?
i dont like the idea of the front sliding out on me... wanna avoid that if possible

The racers just tip them in till they let go......then hold them there till they grip again, then a little further each corner. Usually by mid lap they are good to go
For us mere mortals though

............ I would do one very cruisy lap, then one medium lap, then a brisk lap, then get right stuck in!
Hope you enjoy the creek!

Exactly what Strika said.
At the track I take a lap to scub it in, and then 2 more of being a little careful before I start riding like a raving lunatic again. To tell the truth I don't feel 100% on new rubber until the following session, but with time I will cure this purely mental problem. Or fall off trying.
Also make sure you keep your pressures lower for the track.
Side note: The only time a new tyre did not feel fine after a couple of laps was at the last meeting, when even 5 laps after fitting the rear still seemed to be moving around a hell of a lot. Turns out I had left the rear axle nut very loose, and was lucky not to have it come out completely! So yeah check that too.

i will do exactly that.
i usually spend the first session riding like a pussy anyway so scrubbing in a new tyre is a perfect excuse

Always good to have a couple of excuses up your sleeve
Give it 2 laps, but make sure you actually use the whole tyre. No good just scrubbing in the centre.

one of the best things I ever did was follow Wattie for 3 or 4 laps at the '06 Xmas track day - when he was on the Z1000......
a couple of metres behind him through Turn 1 was like watching a 220kmh angle grinder !!!

the footpeg / sidestand / etc, all dragging their guts through Turn 1..........it was just a fantatstic show !!!!
each time he came in, the sidestand got harder and harder to put down.....
ProblemChild has the same problem to this day......

how quickly we forget....
The EC track day back in 2006 - you were riding the Z1000. It was that same track day where Steve Bisley (Jim Goose) turned up and filmed the MFP12 in the pits......
I think there was only about 6 of us ? Me, you, MadKaw, Nick, Mick C and maybe Glen ??? We did the freight-train thing in just about every session

, hosing the entire B group...
In one session, I just followed you for lap after lap through turn 1, watching the fireworks......it was choice bro !
