Motorcycle hits kerb, rider killed

May 19, 2006
This article from : AAP
A MOTORCYCLIST who only bought his bike yesterday was killed when the vehicle struck a kerb and skidded out of control in the NSW Hunter Valley.

The 34-year-old man was riding eastward along Andrew Street at Singleton, with his girlfriend as his pillion passenger, about 12.20am (AEST) today, police said.

His Suzuki motorcycle struck the kerb and skidded out of control for approximately 70 metres a short time later.

The man suffered severe head injuries and a number of abrasions.

Nearby residents performed CPR on the man and he was taken to Singleton Hospital, but died soon afterward.

His 32-year-old girlfriend suffered only minor injuries.

Police were told the man had only purchased his bike yesterday and that the pair had not been wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Hunter Valley Police are continuing inquiries.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.

Riding at that time of the morning...

What was their blood alcohol level and did the rider have a licence? Can't think why else they'd be doing that at midnight

Concur with 2 of the above statements, commn sense isn't very common at all and yeah, as Stace says, just plain stupid!!! Alas probably not stupid enough to even win a Darwin award though.

Common sense should be called "Uncommon Sense"

because "No common sense" is much more common...

its a sad thing

a moment of stupidity cost this dude his life and probably ruined his GF's and families lives as well.

whats strange is that these people were both over 30. usually these kind of antics are from less mature people.

I just feel for the family/friends. its just a real waste.

RIP dude.
