Sounds like you may have some crap in the bottom of your tank or some water. The reserve tap just drains the last inch or so of fuel so theres likely some gunk in there.
You should take it off and clean it out or depending on your set up take the fuel tap off and completely drain and flush the tank a couple of times and clean the filter. While your at it whack an in line filter in as well ie little filter in between the fuel tap and the carb's.
Good luck with it.

It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I agree with glen on this one. On my old car i used to start getting it coughing and spluttering rather badly when i got to about 5 litres left as there was that much shit in it. took ages to get rid a fair bit of it all (putting the wynns cleaner stuff in) and running it down till it started popping and farting before replacing it. Mind you i never did get rid of it all, that would have required a fuel tank drain, and fark that while living in a set of units.
Another thing to think of as a reason for flushing it out is the fact there's water in there means there's more opportunity for your tank to rust!

metho accepts water into its molecular structure , metho then mixes with petrol and is burnt off
Don't ya need a special permission slip to buy metho in Townsville?........
