Re: Frustrated novice maintainer

The bike has clocked up 52,000 ks and the carbies are original, air filter always fitted. However I will have a close look at butterfly valves on the throttle plates when I pull the carby out again soon.

Re: Frustrated novice maintainer

Oh did I tell you I am a Novice at repairing bike bits.
I gave you all a layout of the difficulties I am having, apart from a few tips and advice there is really nothing more to add which really goes to show I have simply wasted my time trying to fix her up instead off opting for a recognised ...

Re: Frustrated novice maintainer

Yes the carby was cleaned, jets checked for cleanliness, bowls are clean, needle and seat not worn, carby cleaned using NF Contact Cleaner, same stuff we use for the now retired Pig (F-111) and current Rhino (Super Hornet) cleaning agent.

Re: Frustrated novice maintainer

Point taken. I have a Kawasaki ZZ-R250 93 model.
No mods, stock standard
Last Xmas the idle speed became erratic, as it was the warmer season I was not bothered by it, but by winter the issue became a problem. I would start her up and virtually ride off straight away, only when I had to stop for a ...

Frustrated novice maintainer

Why wont my engine like it use to?
Why wont it maintain 3k revs at startup and then stall?
Why wont the engine maintain 1.5k revs once it has warmed?

Re: How do you adjust the Choke

Having a look at the manuals on line I have not seen if the acclerator cable is connected to either the top or lower link, my way of thinking it is probably the lower one, would this be correct?

Re: How do you adjust the Choke

My bad, I actually wrote clutch instead of choke. As my orignal problem is with the choke but I think I have got that sorted. I'm going to put the carby back in this morning. Two questions follow:
1. Is their a way of ensuring the airbox rubber boots slide into the carby without having to fight with ...

Re: How do you adjust the Choke

Why would I be concerned about the clutch when I referred to the choke earlier?

Re: How do you adjust the Choke

Ok, I've used WD as suggested, kicked over the engine but before I checked the choke I noticed air being sucked from between the air box and carby. Suspect the carby and spring doovy connector is leaking beneath. Removed carby and checked bowls, needles and jets, sprayed WD near to choke mechanism ...

How do you adjust the Choke

How do you adjust the Choke when it appears to be not working properly?

When I start the engine the choke is manully adjusted accordingly. The engine revs at 3-4000 and then idles down to zero and stalls.
I adjusted the clutch cable without any luck therefore, I suspect there is a problem with the ...

New to writing stuff

Hi there, I have a zzr250 with an idle problem and I thought this site may be able to help me solve or fix this problem. The carby I cleaned, adjusted the choke and still the engine won't idle when it warms up. I have adjusted the idle adjuster to try and maintain a steady idle of 1500rpm. The idle ...

ZZR250 Idle Adjuster faulty

During the winter months when I first started the engine the idle speed is well above 3000 rpm, I'd let it warm up and adjust the choke and ride off, when stopped the engine would shut down. I'd start it again and not stop for a few kilometres by that time the engine warmed up sufficiently. This had ...
