Hey Fab, Love your work! Read all your books! Going to see your movie as soon as it comes to my local!
BTW, how are you liking Perth/Bunbury????????? I moved Perth-Melbourne in January, hate the weather love the roads. Whereas in Perth, I loved the weather and hated the roads.
You go for a ride to enjoy the twisties.......both of them.......but as normal, one is covered in fcuking pee gravel, and the other has a dead roo mid turn!

lets talk about tyres
in perth area i have seen the majority of roadbikes run hard touring type tyres, usually in matched sets!!!!!!!
this is a local phenomenon due to there only being 1 corner in W.A.
but they run matched tyres!
i tried to find soft road tyres i.e rennsport's but have been foiled at every turn by the forces of straightness.
also the prices of tyres is horrifyng to say the least , they blame it on transport, i blame it on profiteering.not to insult W.A. it is very pretty , especially down south bunbury/margaret river areas, it is just a comparative lack of challenging riding roads.
i will try to get a picture of one of the more interesting sets of chicken strips.

Well that was five months ago, I don't like the profile of these 220s but the grip and wear is OK. 13,000k so far and the rear is getting a bit close to legal limit (1.5mm untill the wear mark); the front still has plenty of life. I'll probably replace the rear in a couple of weeks with another 220 and then get something different when they both run out in another 5 or 6 months.photomike666 wrote:Just replaced front & rear with Dunlop 220s, $382 fitted and balanced.
So far done 250k, half of which in the wet. Confidence is good, haven't exactly pushed them yet though.
The old tyres hung in for a good while. Got 15,000 from a Pirelli GTS rear and 30,000 from a Metzler ME1. I mostly commute to work and play twisties on the odd weekend.

The Hornet has those ultra modern Michelin Hi-sport TX15/25. I thought they may have given a little better life than they are. 2046 k's done so far, and the rear has maybe 600k's of fun, or 1000k's touring left!
I am going to have a go at those Shinko's next!
I am gunna piss myself laughing at any sports bike I beat to the top of Reefton when I put those on.
Fcuk I am just laughing thinking of the combination. A Quadragenarian, on a Hornet, with Shinko's on, beating an R1 Jockey to the top of the spur, or running around the outside of them on those constant radius turns on the Black Spur.
I may have to wear my old mars gear, and my old FM helmet, with my old Rossi boots, and Bieffe gloves. I think I still have that major fashion statement lurking in the shed somewhere!

You could meet a gumby on a Hayabusa, and blow him away on a ZXR250 if you are a better rider, it doesn't really mean jack.
If the R1 jock cleaned you up, would it be because he was on an R1 with Power Race tyres........., or because he was a better rider .........???
