Plenty of SQUIDS in QLD due to the hot weather.

I don't judge either what people wear............even do the odd squid run up to the shop myself.
It's when i see them riding recklessly through traffic/dodging council buses etc that i shake my head  esp when they have the mrs on the back wearing hot pants and a singlet with runners hmmmm looks good  but hate to be her if she comes off.

I can't believe it when I see guys in full kit and the missus on the back wearing shorts and a shirt.

  SQUID is a word that some freaking safety nazi made up so he can get into someone else business.

I've been called a squid a few times but never to my face, only over the net.

Its okay uncle sam we know it fires up some people but also think it is better to be wearing some gear than to see the skin peeled off ya after you ran out of talent somewear.

Squid also refers to the way some of them ride whilst wearing a tshirt and a pir of good sandshoes and tshirt, they probably should be wearing a spidi racesuit at the speeds there moving. :D

Yeah I cringe when I see someone doing something I think is stupid too, but if that person isn't hurting anyone but themselves and not doing any thing illegal. I'm not my brother’s keeper 8)

I ride in sandal's and shorts all the time,(Beemer) funny no ones says squat, to my face.

Dont supose I will be around to ring the ambulance either....do you have to wear a helmet where you reside?

I consider myself underdressed if i head down to the shop without a jacket on  and its 500 meters from my place.

And i live somewhere where the off season is the middle of summer not the other way around and have found that if you wear a jacket you may be hot but you wont get sunburn. :D

But as for the squids they are blasting around the mountains at warp factor 9 way to fast to miss anything that jumps off the side of the road let alone the barbed wire fences that are waiting for them on the runoffs.

Anyways i have a enforced period of walking for a bit yet so i dont have to worry. walk.gif

Yep got to wear a Helmet in Tennessee.

Wearing all that gear is like putting confidence on. Slip on the Jacket I ride faster, slap on some glove go another 10, Pull up the pants add another 10, Thats just me, I only speak for myself. I carry a phone I wouldn't want to put you out if I went down. If I were to break too many peices maybe I'd rather be dead, but hey thats my business, I've got a will and life insurance.

Sorry to be an Ass, today I quit smoking again, for about the hundreth time. This time I hope to quit forever,,, anyway as a freaking smoker I get shit on all the time and the squid thing is one of those things....

Still hurts as much if you come off with all the gear on doesnt stop the bruising one bit :D just looks better at the end of the day because without it you also look like you went 10 rounds with a cheese grater. :D

And for road gear we also have these things called dragin jeans they look like jeans and well really they are jeans with a kevlar liner in them where you will be sliding if you come off.

Got sandshoes with reinforced heels and toes too for city riding (rjays speedboots) becuase your not likely to lowside of the edge off a cliff in the city but you might get clipped by a car.

Good luck with the fags.

Just reading what has been written the past few messages. I think it's all good that a rider wears what they want (at their own risk) although I will NEVER leave the house without my riding gear on. I know my limits on the bike and yeah ride to them. What is the worry to me is that fact I may ride saftly etc but not to say the IDIOT in the car in front of me, behind me, running a red light etc will drive carefully. The idea of skin hitting the road first is a tad of a worry to me. So no matter how careful u ride their is always gonna be some IDIOT that wants to get some where faster than you do.

This summer I'll take some very shocking pictures of hundreds of squids.
I'm moving back to Wisconsin, (Harley's are made). Wisconsin does not have a helmet law, how sweet it is. Its kinda like wearing that freaking seat belt, my property and I'll drive it my way. Thats how I see it, but hey what do I know,,, I used to jump out of airplanes.
