its a feel thing, people that like the 7 love the 7. those that dont get other bikes

as for lifespan, 30,000km or even 50,000km is nothing.... the thing is that most people just dont rack up that many kms on a bike, so the only real problem with high k's is resale... but if you bought it with high-ish k's then its not a problem


but if its a 96-97 model with 50,000km then thats LOW for a 10 year old bike IMO... but the motor would still have plenty left in it... any sports bike is capable of well over 100,000km .... much higher than that and a fresh set of rings and a hone of the bore is a good idea and not too expencive either... but thats some pretty serious k's to put on a bike

Intrinsically, yes, but seeing how I used to know a bloke in Sydney who'd put 90-odd thousand km on his ZXR250...

i'm a bit reluctent to buy anything bike regardless of the engine capcity if it's over 30,000kms, am i wrong?

Yes and no. If it's been taken care of, 30,000km is just run in. If it's been neglected or hammered, it'll need work before too long. Buy on condition, not just the odo reading,

size doesnt really affect longevity... its piston speed that counts, and even a 18,000rpm 250cc I4 doesnt have overly high piston speeds, as the stroke is very short.

an alleged 17500rpm 06 R6 will have overly high piston speeds with the stroke it has if you take it up that high, but hey the bike isnt even out yet

pick up a repairable write off mate, less than half price that way. Will leave you free to milk the most fun out of it. Of course if you like to pay top dollar for something that will make you cry when you bin it get something uncrashed. But its funny how so many repaired write offs make it back out onto the road into the hands of unsuspecting owners who paid over double what the seller picked it up for.....so be careful.
