AS Neka siad yeah i used to be into cars.

Had a modified WRX that could do 0-100 in four seconds i shit you not.

And for a street car thats fucken fast

With fast cars after a while they start to feel slow. And the thing is the faster you make a car the more it costs to get that extra bit.

Moved on to bikes and wow the crotch rocket shits over the cars.

Most of us here could push a car to its limits.
Be honest how many people here can ride there sportbike to its limit.

I wont say how much i spent on the car. But for under 10 grand you can get a awesome bike that willbe faster than most things on the road.
I wish i had have made the switch sooner.

buy a sports bike and a shit box car.

pref a shitbox ute...for trackday transport as mentioned above.

Unless the car is a couple of grands worth its all DEPRECIATION waiting to happen. As for modding a car, more wasted money. You'll never be satisfied. Some other wanker will always be faster cos they have more money to waste than you.

At least on a sportsbike they are all rockets and the deciding factor is just how much of the bikes potential your brave/silly enuff to explore.

The first stock 600cc sportsbike you ride will blow ANYTHING you've driven away. Then there are the litre class bikes, when acceleration is limited only by your ability to keep the front wheel on the ground while you try to get it to the throttle stop in the first 3 gears...difficult.

Just be sure you don't get yourself killed.

Aaaaahh... you just gotta love the insanity of it all.

I currently only have a bike because I have access to my parents car.

My plan once I get settled into full time work (have been at uni till now) is to have a good bike or 2 (I'm thinking a BMW R1200 and a zrx) and a modest car, something like a new Suzuki Swift or a Toyota camry that can tow a tinnie for the fishing trip.

I have a half decent car (1998 Carolla hatchback), it does what it does well. and i like driving it about. But to get a buzz or fullfill a passion (one that doesnt revolve around my girlfriend that is ;-) ), thats where having a bike comes into play. Mine isnt the flashest, prettiest or by any means the fastest out there, but i enjoy taking it out & certainly get my quota of shits & giggles outta it.

Do what feels right, the best thing i can suggest is dont commit either way, take a pre learner course, see how you like the feel of just riding a bike (hell they might or might not be for you after all) and take it from there.

Good luck.

Well I can answer this question quite well, I owned a nicely modded S14 200sx....It was the last car I owned, and that was getting onto 3 years ago now...

If you want something that is fun and money is an issue, I think it is worth spending decent money on a bike - use the car as reliable transport.

I am now looking at getting a car too, maybe something a bit fun but not going to spend too much. But if I could afford it, hmmm a new STi would be fun.

Nah you don't want a bike man. They are dangerous, hard to go really fast on, chew tyres like you wouldn't believe, fall over if you go too slow, struggle with more than 2 people on board, have a lack of automatic gearbox options, have no glove box on a vehicle actually designed for use with gloves, attract all manner of idiot drivers into their path, have no provision for carrying a spare tyre, tend to distance themselves from their operators when the shit hits the fan, and are usually too loud.

Cars on the other hand, have glove boxes.

Although they do tend to go a lot slower than bikes, have trouble wheelstanding, doing stoppies, and tend to be so damn boring that they put their drivers to sleep with often disasterous consequences.........

I echo this, the only reason I have the car is so that I can pick up my 4 yr old from kinder, and the odd family thing, otherwise as much biking as possible

Mate, for $20k you could get a 600cc sportsbike (I know you're not licienced for that yet) and something akin to an early 90's Toyota Supra 3L turbo. The car will be fun, the bike will give the 200sx a head start then mono past with ease.
