You know those little cushions that go inside your rear wheel with the nobs on them, What effect does it have if they're put in the wrong way, There were markings on the inside of the wheel that made me think the nobs were to face inwards, but looking recently at diagram of the rear wheel it appears they're meant to face outwards...
Any idea on what this can cause?? or if its not really a problem at all?

They are cush drives. They stop the metal to metal clunk you'd get from sprocket carrier hitting the wheel evertime you accelerate if you didn't have em...
And no it probly won't make much difference, other than perhaps a bit of slop in the drive line, as they usually are a tapered fit....
But then again they may come loose, get stuck in your hub and lock the rear wheel at 100kph....
