Spot on, they aint the same, so why should they be treated the sameZombie wrote:I voted OTHER. They should have proper training and tests etc but ONLY have a license for scooter, not motorbikes.
Its the same as saying "I've got a bus license so I can drive a truck."

Mobile -> Static -> Mobile Again, ahh how good that feels

hmm
Well, I ride a vespa 150cc and I was amazed with the licence 'test' you had to do to get a learners permit. There were 5 multiple choice questions. There was nothing as complex as the car learners test, and nothing about road rules, or safety... I was suprised by it, and I think they should make the morotcycle tests harder. They are far too easy to get.
As for the 50cc scooters being able to be riden by people with no motorcycle licence, I don't know if any of YOU people know about it or not, but the QLD govt is trying to encourage car drivers to use more eco-friendly transport.
A 50cc is more convenient in the CBD, and better for the environment, and cheaper to run. It would not make sense to enforce a licence for under 250cc scooters only, as it is too much 'hassle' for the car drivers to get interested in bikes/scooters. The Govt has tried to encourage the car drivers to leave the car at home by making it CONVENIENT to just go out with $2000 and hop on a scoot.
If you are going to get a seperate licence for a bike, you might as well get a proper motorcycle...as that costs money. Car drivers don't want that.
And that's my 2 cents

Well I think you're all being terribly rude about Hardly riders. I mean, I know they only have the power of a 49cc go-ped, and they wear those open face hats so the wind wistles through their missing teeth. I can see the argument for a specific certification to ride one, and even that most people only want to ride one on holiday and not admit to owning one...
BUT
The strap is undone coz their neck is too fat
And
They are not exactly fast
AND
Think of all that polishing, not to mention the constant maintence
Give em a break

i think people named glen are stupid. well one in particular. and should need a license to use a computer.
get off ya high horse mate.
u don't do it, so why do you care.
u only need to look after number 1.
as for the licensing,
include the basics of motorcycle safety in the learner and license courses.
or just combine the two licenses. you wanna drive a car? learn how to ride a bike.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I do however object to knobs (oops people, wouldn't want to be aggressive god forbid) getting themselves aced because they don't have the sense to at least wear/affix a lid to their heads. When they get injured/killed it's yet another piece of evidence that confirms motorcyclists are clearly not smart enough to take responsibility for their own safety so they need to be legislated into doing it. I'm not sure because I am a bit stupid I've heard but I think that makes it worse for all of us.
Do I need to wear a helmet when I use my computer. It wasn't mentioned in the license test

It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I reckon a bigger problem is the guy in full leathers, race boots and helmet etc going a Brazillion miles an hour on the road. These are the one that kill themselves, often others too and really give the community a rash about bikes.I do however object to knobs (oops people, wouldn't want to be aggressive god forbid) getting themselves aced because they don't have the sense to at least wear/affix a lid to their heads. A scooter is pretty docile and unscary to the GPub. All go into the accident stats but guess which one is going to make the news.
Just one more law and everyone will be safe.

Yeah true mate but my worry is the legislators tend to look at statistics, interpret them however they choose and then go after the easiest target, as they are in Qld at the moment.balanse wrote:I reckon a bigger problem is the guy in full leathers, race boots and helmet etc going a Brazillion miles an hour on the road.
