FWIW I bought 2 bog standard car headlight protectors from Autobarn or some such place for around $40 if I recall correctly ages ago, one does the headlight and the other is a damn fine tank protector and shitloads cheaper than Geelong Carbon Craft.

i have a blue tinted cover and and never had a prob. been past and ridden behind tmu and regular police, even the yellow highway patrols in a carpark where i woulda been easy pickings but they didnt do shit.
You stand out easier as mates have told me.. and bugs dont go for it either.
