3rd party insurance for P Plate

Post by hidepenny »

Hi anyone out there has any experience of having a 600cc bike on P Plate and somehow wana insurance it with 3rd party with theft and fire???

would i be eligilble to claim if it was stolen????

that's my only concern

i'm too paranoid that my bike will get stolen on the car port, even though now i have a cover and a disc lock and somehow thinking to get 2 chains to lock it up to the steel poles :?

and now i have forced myself to let the bike live inside the house

HP, you get 3rd party insurance with your rego, what you want is full comp insurance and that is certianly available, best bet is get some quotes from various orgs, being a 600, you on p plates and it being a sportsbike it's not gonna be cheap, having said that, will be cheaper than having to buy another bike should it get knocked off.

seriously i am only thinking if there's an insurance policy for theft :)

because being on p plate, regardless of what i do, i wont' be covered by insurance coz i'm riding something that i shouldn't , but i just can't wait another 9 months :?

i'm feeling reluctant to call insurance company to tell them i have a 600 and at the same time on p plate :?

Sowhat you are saying is that you are riding unlicenced and therefore CTP will not cover you ewither in case of an accident (assuming your P's are restricted)

Third party policy will cover you for damage to another vehicle as well as theft, so if you have a at fault and clean up a ferrari they will pay the damages the stuff on your rego only covers other parties for injuy.

Riding a bigger bike on your Ps is a bit silly but i believe the fine isnt huge.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Think wazza has it right, you have sfa chance of insurance if you're riding something you're legally not supposed to. of course you could tell them it's a 250 but then wehn you make the claim (if you do) you're screwed and that would basically mean you might as well have pissed the mopney against the wall instead of donating it to an insurance company.

If you're riding the 6 on p's and still under restrictions, then the best theft insurance you can get is some serious mf locks, disc lock with alarm and a couple of chains is about your best bet, that's my opinion am no insurance expert though...

Don't think any insurance co will pay a claim if you're not supposed to be riding it, regardless of whether it's theft. I imagine that would be the first box on the "how to deny a claim form". Presumably if you weren't licensed they would refuse to provide a third party, fire and theft cover anyway, which would likely be your only option.

Quite aside from your theft problem, if you're riding something you aren't supposed to getting fined is the least of your concerns. Your big worry should be what happens if something goes pear shaped and you injure someone. Your CTP aint worth a squirt which therefore means you will be held personally liable for the cost of the other persons injuries. I know it's the worst case but a bad claim could be potentially life ruining for you.

It's ultimately up to you but make sure you consider all of the consequences.

just rang up RACV, they can insure me, however they need a rider who is eligible for riding a 600cc bike, and i can still insure the bike under my name....now i just have to find a full licensed rider :?

and the other persons injury cover (ctp) can be wiped, as can ANY insurance you have, be it compulsory OR 3rd party property...

basicly if your NOT licensed for said bike when u crash it, regardless of who u clean up etc, ur not covered for SHIT.....

dont hurt sum1..paying back $750,000 wouldnt be much fun....

my insurance company paid out the $750,000 i was sued after an accident wen i was 18...

a harley rider (22yo) crashed into me while i was sitting at a roundabout giving way to him...

he, and 4 of his mates were sure i pulled out on him, and told the police such..i tended to agree....they were big lads...

abt 12 months later i was sued for his medical damages etc..$750,000 .... had i not had insurance (compulsory) id of been rooted..had i not been licenced..same problem...

think about it...

That was $5000 for medical bills and $745000 for the mental trauma suffered by him riding a Hardly

Seriously, that would have been horrible :?
