that all depends on what scooter you buy anything above a 50 will do that , or you could buy yourself something like the Aprilia 50 and big bore and pipe and still cheap rego mmm

a Postie still takes a bit to get to 80

My suggestion

deliver more pizza, work more hours and keep the GPX , it costs bugger all to run, is reliable, partsaplenty, commute on it for the next 10 years

RGV will require a lot of work to get it up to scratch and also the possibility of blowing it up and then its $$$

Well the problem is sloved, a push bike it is, or now the question is what type of bike do you get? I think a mountain bike as it has gears, and if you want to go and do rough riding, you can.

Rego is the same in QLD for scooter and single seat bike, so rego costs are not a problem. And where did the 3km from work idea come from

postie is a very good idea IMO... see a few in the paper with reg and RWC for about a grand too. the basket on the back has plenty of luggage room too, so no problems there! wheelies are only too easy too

id lean towards a mid 90's 600cc bike, maybe slightly newer with a little battle damage

hate to say it but of all the comparisons ive read between all the 600's from that era, the thundercat (YZF600) seems to come out on top

and they can be had pretty damn cheap too. keep in mind they have only JUST taken them off the market in the USA with absolutely zero upgrades since its release in 95-96. not many bikes enjoy a 10 year unchanged production life so thats gotta say something about it

might also be an idea to check the auctions over in townsville, some real bargains to be had there (how about a 2002 cbr954RR with minor damage for 3k? i guess the cyclone the day before scared most of the punters off tho

yes i understand the reason for 2 bikes
this i why i suggest keep the GPX, my suggestion to deliver more pizza etc was to save somemore money to enable you to kep the GPX and buy another bike

You buy a postie and it needs major rebuild in a couple of years and is still a slow bugger

If you can get the work down to 10k then thats still adequate for a pushie and occasional motorbike ride to work , I actually know guys in syd that have gone from cars/bikes to work to riding a pushie due to fuel costs and the health benefit is a side factor in the equation

I guess at the end of the day the wife is an issue , maybe you need to do some figures and show her how it will be cheaper for you to have 2 bikes

Well if you already have a 40k each way comute, I wouldn't be selling the 250 till I was sure you get the trip down to 10k, I wish I could talk my wife into owning 2 bikes!

wendy's 250cc scooter use to do abt 150kph & at a scary rate ill tell u...and her new 500cc yamy scoot is fairly frightening as well...but CHEAP to run..cost her $8k tho..

If i was u and the misses agrees to two bikes(or you can get forgivness) you could look at the Auctions some are not that bad and cheap. Just lookout for crack in frames. Watched to Kids biding on a stolen and smashed GSX600 (02) biding was at 4k but the thing was stuffed and they wanted to re-register.
