Deathwish or testosterone?

Post by Colette »

We are always having a go at cagers on the road, but I honestly think there are some idiots out there who shouldn't be riding a bike.

This morning I came across a guy on a Suzuki with L plates who was riding like an absolute tosser. He was weaving in and out of traffic like he was in a race, crossing centre lanes, you name it he was doing it - on wet roads in heavy traffic.

It annoys me because not only is he putting his life and others' lives at risk, but he is not helping improve the image of motorcyclists one bit.

There are plenty of tossers around to cause harm to our image &
most of the ones I see are on R1's cause thats the only bike they can
wheelstand on to impress their egos

as for the L plater mmm very temporary

Hopefully Mr L plate will have a big enough scare to make him pull his head in. :?

Whilst I am in full agreement Collette it is always in the eye of the beholder (unfortuanately).
For example we prob have all swung across in front of car and left a good six inches (OK a foot, but you get what I mean)
To you with clear vision all around and a bit more speed is nothing.
BUT to mum fighting with the kids or the old bloke that should have handed in his licence yonks ago they have slammed on the brakes and been liberaced because some hoon cut them off.
Monos are sweet and need not be dangerous but can be damn scary to someone who thinks Rossi is a wine colour.....

BUT I have no doubt this idiot will make the papers one way or another...

My worst traffic experiences while commuting have been when I'm pottering along with the traffic, instead of lane splitting and weaving my way through the cars. I try not to be too stupid about it, but it puts me back in control to a certain extent, instead of waiting for the moron next to me to merge into me without looking over his shoulder, or the dick behind to decide to share my lane cause I've got my indicator on

Don't get me wrong, I lane split with the best of them, but it was the way this guy was doing it and the frequency that was a concern.

Mono's are always dangerous on the road... While your front wheel is in the air you have so little directional control that it takes you at least 100 metres and 6 seconds to change direction.... a lot can happen in 6 seconds...

I'm usually spent, gone to the toilet and finished half a ciggie in 6 seconds.

Sorry Stereo
Dont go with you on this one
YEP they CAN be dangerous (hold on is this a MURDERCYCLE website  )
So is riding a bike.
100m and 6 seconds  where do you pull this shit from ??
It is a broad statement like the Government like to pull out to scare old ladies and kids.
So if I pop the front at 5k I will be out of control for 100m and 6 secs???
OR if I pull a 200k minger I will ONLY be out of control for 100m and 6 sec???
See what I mean
SOooo I am going to say a statement made by someone who doesnt know, trying to impress ppl that dont know....
Yep Monos are dangerous, no doubt, and in the context of Colleens original post I will agree BUT dont go making BS statements that dont stand up to even casual scrutiny.....
Yeah I know there are wankers do 100k monos past schools, just not THIS little black duck OK

Surely you are not going to debate the 100m right? Im assuming that you at least agree with that....

As for the 6 seconds... try it..... Pull a mono, a proper one, not a low one.... and then count from 0 (say zero the moment you pretend you are in an emergency situation) to 6.... See if you are in a state to avoid a stationary vehicle at that point.... I think you will be surprised...

Im not talking about bringing the front wheel back down, Im talking about bringing the wheel down, and reducing to a suitable speed to avoid a stationary object directly in your path...

Also consider that it takes most people around a second and a half to react to a surprise...
The world is round. It has no point.
