I doubt i'll worry about changing the spring, i've got heaps of preload left to play with anyway. If Mick wants it he can have it.

The eibach spring I have is 150mm long and outside diameter of about 80mm and inside diameter of about 60mm. The numbers on it are 0600.225.0700.. Hope this means something too ya.. :shock:

Thanks Dave, I'll check mine out and see if it will fit. I do know that it is 150mm long so that shouldn't be a problem, I just need to check the rest...I'll get back to you :)

oooh, I'm so jelouse!

How good does the yellow shock look on the blue bike? sensational!!

I've found an Ohlins for mine for $600, I dont have the cash but is it worth robbing a bank or something? How significant is the improvement in handling?

there is a difference. however my stock suspension was setup by Glen Willing the chief engineer for TKA so the stuff i had before was pretty good. infact most people that rode my bike commented on how well it was set up. 8)

saying that you can definatly tell the ohlins works better over bumpy stuff, which the nasho is full of and you can "feel" it working. I still have a little settting up to do but that will come with time.

I intend keeping the bike forever, i have no desire to get a 10 as i can get into enough trouble on the one i've got. how fast we ride is not goverend by the bikes but the fact that its a road littered with coppers.

lets face it a zx9 will obliterate the speed limit in this state in first gear on the back wheel :)

Cheers Phil, I dunno about my bike? It doesnt feel quite right.

I used to slide my old CBR1000F everywhere, on my gorgeous 98 GSXR750 I was quite happy sliding both wheels in and then the rear out of corners in a big way, loved it! But after 3 years being sportsbikeless, I dont seem to be able to do it on the nine. I'm getting it along OK, I did a 1:52 at EC on my first and only ever track experience in March. But either I am soft and old now, or I've lost "it", or the ZX9 can be improved?? I'm just not confident pushing the limits of grip on this bike.

By the way I had a Pirelli Dragon Evo on the front and a standard Diablo on the back.

I have read that the rear suspension is set up too conservatively? I'm going to try dropping the forks through 5mm and jacking the back up by using 98 ZX6 dog-bones (or whatever they are called).

After those cheap mods and a careful setup, I guess the only thing is a new rear shock and valves and springs in the front? Any thoughts would be MUCH appreciated.

ha ha ha! I loved that bike. It handled FAR better than my nine, but I wrote it off with 15,000ks on it. The stickers were peeling off, both front discs were warped, there were some bad rattles coming from the engine... and it was still a baby. My zx9 is about to clock over 50,000ks and still hauls ass. The engine is amazing, the paint is perfect (apart from my indisrcetions) and them discs aint warped!

c'mon, how do I make it handle??

easy..start with a set of honda stickers..then move to suspension form honda..then a motor...
