Any one got a ZX10 Handle bar (FOUND ONE)

Post by MrStompy »

Hello

No one happens to have a ZX10 right hand handle bar (or both) lying around they want to sell do they?

My mate has bent his on his 2005 zx10 and they seem to be pretty rare in bike wreckers.

I most certainly do - however there is a fair bit of bike hanging off it. You can have the handlebars for $14,000 and I'll throw the rest of the bike in....

thats a good idea.

I will give him the handle bars (he pays the 14 grand of course) and i will hang onto the "excess parts" :D :D :D

sounds like a win win situation.

Any one got a ZX10 Handle bar (found one)

Post by MrStompy »

So my friend got a replacement Handlebar (std one) for his ZX10.

he asked me to give him a hand to put it on.

It looks like the basic process is to undo the massive nut on top of the steering head (triple clamp i guess its called)
undo where there triple clamp holds the suspension
then slide up the handle bar and slide the new one on.

is there anything to watch out for or any special tools/skills required.
Im a bit nervous about messing around with that part of the bike as steering is the most critical bit.

obviously we are new to this kind of work so my terminology is probably wrong and thats why im checking with with you guys first before butchering this bike.

its tempting to take it to a shop and have them do it but i really want to know how to do all this stuff myself and you wont ever learn anything unless you have a crack at it yourself first huh

thanks alot for all your help
