1998 zx7r help please!!
Ok so while riding the other night i noticed that the lighting of the speedo was dim near the 0-40mph marks i ignored it and went on with my ride but today i was aproaching a stop light and was down shifting and the lights went off up to the 100mph mark!! whats going on. I checked connections near the cluster and everything is tight and i then checked fuses. they look fine i put everything together and now my bike wont start. it acts like the battery is low. so i charged it and it just turns over but never starts. and sometimes when u hit the button u just hear a click click. ohh and i also dont have any headlights!! someone please help me:(
i have been riding bikes since i had my permit and started riding dirtbikes since was 5 will never stop. even if mom doesnt like me doing wheelies.

firstly, check the water level in the battery, that is if its not a sealed unit.
if it is, then its dead, if its not, you can top it up with distilled water, failing that, bottled water, and if you plan on binning the battery in the next few months, tap water.
i topped mine up with bottled water (mt franklins for the fussy bastards on here) and kicked her over and voila, good as new! still going 2 months or so later.

ya so i chaged battery and it starts but the dash lights on speedo stilll are not on. Do the bulbs burn out on them and if so are they hard to change? its pretty hadrd to see speedo at night.

yes the bulbs do burn out. Its not hard to change, u just have to take the front fairing off to access the rear of the dash.ryan12 wrote:ya so i chaged battery and it starts but the dash lights on speedo stilll are not on. If the bulbs are burnt out, they normally go one at a time and not all at once. But when u get a new bulb (i know this cos i have the same on my bike) a part of the dash looks brighter than the other part. Being the fussy prick i am, i changed them all and now it all looks the same.

It may be the Battery
. Buy a new bike and see if it starts and works with your old battery. If it does its not the battery but the old bike.
In which case your problem will be what to do with whats left of your old bike. I dont need a battry and besides they are blinkin heavy. Can you send me the fairings,
Mate .(Melbourne Australia)
