ZX7R + ZXR750R crank = 830cc's???????

Post by spekt-r »

Ive heard sticking a ZXR750R crank in your ZX7R increases the stroke thereby increasing ther capacity to about 830cc's anyone know if there is any truth in this? If the journal size is correct and if the stroke is actually compatible this could be a real cool mod for anyone rebuilding their engine or after more ponies.

Tis true, got the mag around here somewhere. I'll see if I can find the article and scan it in

Agreed, but his isnt the only one.
Im too sick of hearing the oh so common "ZX7's are too old/dated/heavy/underpowered/crap" thing. I wanna be able to make R1 owners weep, Ive almost got the handling and braking, some small tweaks will fix that, I really need more power though.

Yep, it definately can be done. One of the guys who sent a pic to my zx7r site had done it and was putting out 129 hp at the rear wheel. One of the things you have to consider is the head clearance as the extra stroke requires additional gasket thickness.. he also said the std clutch didn't last too long..

Hmmmm so id have to get something made up. I would have to be careful though because I wouldnt want to lose compression.

It was all about not having too much compression... I think he may have doubled up on head gaskets or something.. He sent me all the info on what he did... unfortunately, I no longer have it...

I just checked my site, it says 135hp at the rear wheel and there is an e-mail addy on there. Don't know if its current as the pic was posted about 4 or 5 years ago..

If anyone is looking for one, I have a spare ZXR crank in Sydney for $250.
