To Blink or Not to Blink... that is the question...

I have no indicators - the flasher unit works tho, I had all the fuses light tested and they are all go too and all the bulbs are fine as well... Honda wont give me an approximate quote as to how long it might take to try find the problem but one of the boys reckon he got a $1000 buck bill just in labour to find a crack in one of his wires.

I thought maybe because I have to ride her in the rain that perhaps she's gotten water in the lines... but then the indicators... they've been a little dodgy for a couple weeks now - used to take a good few seconds for them to kick in when I tried using them.

So any ideas on what I should look for seeing how it looks like I have to try find the problem myself??

so what does, doesn't work?

can you indicate one way, not the other? or at all? my best suggestion is to take to the leads with a multimeter, and also take any connectors in the right area apart, blow them out to remove water, and put them together again.

id say just take it to an auto elec and stay the hell away from a stealership, esp if they've got a reputation for that kind of thing. That being said, fault finding like this can be rather tedious & take a while if you dont look in the right place straight off.

btw, set your multimeter to ohm (resistance) make sure that u disconnect the battery terminal. else u will blow the meter and start testing hte lines for resistance... depends wat brand of meter u got will give u different results... if u get a low rest.. thats a good sign, if u get none, u found yer prob!

After my recent honda experience, check the switch gear. Is a point that gets lots of use, has moving parts and contacts, and is likely to get gradually worse.

Yeah,ide go with what photomike says,check the switch block,or another thing to check would be your earths seeing as your indicators are plastic and need a good earth to complete the circuit.

Mate what a freaking legend you are!!! I took the bike into work and got our Leccy bloke to come out with his magic yellow dial thingy...

and he tested all the wires, we pulled off the switch thing and its now determined that there is no activity running from the switch to the flasher can thingy...

but power going to all the other wires!! anyways if I can stay off her this weekend (my daughter wants me to go spend the night and watch REALLY scarey movies....

) I'll pull it apart and clean out the contacts or something.

Then again... why wont blackninja just lend me his bike for the weekend??
