LACONI AND WALKER ON SECOND ROW AT BRANDS HATCH
Sunshine and a warm-track delivered perfect conditions for the 27 Superbike riders on display at Brands Hatch, with Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) and Chris Walker (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) setting seventh and eighth best times respectively. Their competitive times in Superpole put them both on the second row, an important position at a track like Brands, with such a 'funnel' of riders created at the first corner of Paddock Hill Bend. Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse), without the same vast experience of Brands Hatch as his fellow Kawasaki riders, was 12th quickest after Superpole, still working on race set-up at this tricky circuit, laden with undulations and cambers.
REGIS LACONI: 7th - 1'26.323: “My Superpole lap had no mistakes but was not perfect. I could have gone faster in some places but that's easy to say after, not so easy to do it! The bike is looking good and we have been working very hard on the race tyres, working with old tyres. For sure we are looking good and I like the track very much.”
CHRIS WALKER: 8th - 1'26.542: “The guys worked really hard between yesterday and today, and we kind of went backwards this morning and forward this afternoon. We came up with a different approach, something with the rear shock and consistently I started doing laps as good as any single one on the weekend, and without traumas.”
FONSI NIETO: 12th - 1'26.814: “I don't like this track because I had some hard times here last year. I tried my best but we had a big problem with the bike wheelying, even if my rhythm is not so bad. The podium will be difficult this race but we have to push. If the start is good I think I can be not so bad.”

[PRESS RELEASE]
Brands Hatch 6-08-2006
LACONI GOES FOURTH FOR PSG-1 KAWASAKI CORSE IN ENGLAND
Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) overcame the disappointment of a race one ninth with a resurgent fourth in race two, equalling the single best team race result of the year, taken by Chris Walker (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) in race two at Misano in June. Laconi also promoted himself to 14th overall in the series. Walker was team top scorer in Brands race one, when he posted seventh, but slipped back to eighth in race two, after a technical issue intervened. He now sits in overall ninth place, the highest PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse team member in the championship chase. Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) had a difficult weekend all in, scoring 14th in race one after some physical on track battles. He retired after running off track and possibly damaging his tyres as he drove out of the gravel at Sheene Curve in race two.
REGIS LACONI: 9th & 4th - 72 Points, 14th Overall: “I'm happy because I knew we could get a result like race two all weekend. We were very close to the podium. I tried some new settings in race one, but we went back to our warm-up setting for race two, and it worked well. The bike was easy to ride and this is the first time I have been able to go fast right to the last lap. I am so happy to be able to ride like that, on a hard rear tyre. I just made a little mistake earlier on and lost the gap to Pitt and then could not make it up.”
CHRIS WALKER: 7th & 8th - 96 Points, 9th Overall: “I was happy to be the top finisher in the team in race one. I just needed another lap to get to Corser. My back brake went on the line so that made race two hard, because I normally use the back brake a lot round here.”
