KSRC Rider Sponsor - Show of interest
A while a go a thread was posted about KSRC sponsoring an up and coming rider. There seemed to be an amount of interest but it didn't go any further.
At the recent Moto GP round, a gentleman came up to me to ask what all the green was about. I told him we were KSRC and what we were about and he told me his son was racing a privateer Kawasaki in the Australian supersport championships. His son is Chris Seaton and at that round finished very close to TKA rider Josh Waters.
Paul (Chris's Dad) came and chatted to us a number of times over the weekend and on the Sunday Chris came over to say hello as well.
Nice people who are very keen on there racing.
It came up in conversation that KSRC may be interested in getting involved with an up and coming racer and if there was enough interest from the members we may be able to come up with a proposal.
Things were left at that with no promises or commitments made but, now I have my internet back up, I thought I should put this to you guys to see if theres enuff, or any interest.
Soooo, what you think....???

I'm all for sponsoring an up and coming rider, and would be happy to invest some cash. But not with the Seatons!

Yep, and you could throw my name in that as well as Greenman and number of KSRCers that do or will race, how do we decide.?frogzx12r wrote:Id be happy to throw in
Be nice to support Mitch, Hemi and Stretchie but...
Stretch got a 2nd and Hemi got a 3rd (diff classes) in Qld champs.
Both would love the sponsorship
Problem being, club racing doesn't give much coverage for KSRC and the ppl you mention are only racing in there own state.
We talked about it and P.I. and believed it better to go with someone outside of KSRC already established in the national champs.

Hmm..???Strika wrote:I'm all for sponsoring an up and coming rider, and would be happy to invest some cash. But not with the Seatons!
What happened to this
We are open to other options though.Strika wrote: Chris Seaton is a nice bloke too, as well as being a handy rider. He is just sooooo tall though! It's always going to be a disadvantage for him. More weight, more wind resistance, so all physical things considered, I reckon he does a top job out there!
One of his mechanics is a ripper bloke too, who just quietly, knows how to fettle a donk too!

PM me for the story, or talk to me at the Supers about it! I still agree the kid can ride!! And HE is a really nice guy too!!! I like him a lot and really rate him as a rider! I just think he has enough support of sorts, and I would be hapier putting my money into someone a bit younger and maybe with even more talent. (Might have to steal Chris's mechanic thoughMadKaw wrote:Hmm..???Strika wrote:I'm all for sponsoring an up and coming rider, and would be happy to invest some cash. But not with the Seatons!

I'd love to see Blake Leigh Smith on KSRC livery!! But he is a GP runner and not likely to see the SS padock for a while, perhaps never if he makes it in Spain or Europe in GP's.

I have asked one of the national SS and SBK front runners to give me his thoughts on who might be a worthy candidate for some support. These guys tend to know what to look for as they have been there and done it, and seen many others do the same also. Let you know when he gets back to me.

I'm all for it.
But when it comes to money it'll get touchy. Gotta have a 'treasurer' to handle it, monthly/quarter statement etc... afterall it's the club's money.
I've got a suggestion, why not we let KAWASAKI dealers advertise on this board, collect money from them, we chip in our little bit and use the money to sponsor rider/s.
Obviously the number of riders we can sponsor depends on how much money we can gather.
And with our sponsorship, the rider/s wear the KSRC logo and that will create awareness to our site and our sponsors get more exposure...and the loop goes on...blah blah blah
That is only my suggestion, don't hurt me
