All good thoughts..
The first thing we need to do is determine how much money we can offer. I can put up a post with ppls names and how much they can put in, althought some may not like that.??? Dunno.

If we have enough $, we could then send an e-mail to the formua exteme site asking for expressions of interest from riders. Let them tell us why we should support them.?

We don't have a lot to choose from..

Dave, what age are these guys do you have a rough idea?

Chris Seaton sounds like he's a youngish guy and we know Josh Waters is but I have no clue about the others.

Josh Waters should still be considered, it just may be harder to get any prominent logo position than say for Chris Seaton. As we know, Josh does or did have our sticker on his helmet.

Don't forget what we'll prob. be able to raise $$ wise will be not as substantial as a business could.

I don't think listing the amounts people can/will contribute is the way to go, just list their names...

Sounds like a good idea to me, dont see why those who chuck in need have something to show they did though, wouldnt that make the people who didnt feel abit stupid?? Maybe people want to - but cant afford it.
Those who chuck in will know they did i reckon thats enough??

Maybe not though - just my thoughts.

It would be great if we could sponsor a top shelf rider but for the money that can be raised that may mean only getting one sticker on a bike and no recognition at all. This has to be a win / win for both KSRC and the rider. That means a decent size logo and recognition possibly in the team name. This may mean we should look at a lesser known rider maybe a younger guy or girl with potential. We could also look at a Kawasaki dealership (one that supports KSRC) to get some race assistance from Kawasaki.

So what are we actually talking about here? One off donations and a warm glow or an ongoing hand-in-pocket sponsorship deal?

I have no problem with the one off donation-and-warm-glow thing, but ongoing sponsorship is the kind of thing that a racer would need and should be discussed and nutted out so it is a win win for sponsor and rider stating certain limitatons etc.

KSRC as an entity is a non profit organisation is it not? So is this bloke asking for ongoing hand in pocket from individual members or does he have something in mind that will benefit KSRC and its members? I mean what are KSRC's goals in this endeavor? More public awareness? Weight of numbers to get advertisers to put money into the KSRC site?

What is he bringing to the table?

If he has the initiative to curry our favour on behalf of his son, how much sponsorship does he really NEED from us?

What sponsors does he have already?

What is the word around the paddock?

Back my son please he races a kawasaki isn't really enuff.

What we are talking about all comes down to how much intersest and how many $ we can raise. Hence the post.
I would suggest we have a start of year 1 off payment with options open to the same again the next year. Over that year we would have new members who may donate and others who may wish to add to the amount and donate yearly or whatever. We could raffle stuff, have fundraisers, whatever pp want to do..

The goals are numerous,
Awarnesess of KSRC -via press releases, on bike stickers etc
Greater dealer, discounter interest in KSRC
Putting something into the sport we follow
Having someone to follow and support
Helping a career get started (either from support or the $)
A warm glow for individuals little expense

The importance of our commitment to the rider would be based on what they have currently. As stated, to sponsor Josh Waters wouldn't really get as anywhere as Kawasaki and major sponsors would make us insignificant. Someone like Chris Seaton, we could be considered a personal or mid range sponsor (depending on what we raise), but if we went with a lesser known rider in say the superstock, we would probly be the major, perhaps only sponsor.
Dunno really, these are all the things this thread is here to discuss..
Obviously we will require something from the proposed rider to state what they are prepared to bring to the table.

And yes KSRC is definately a non profit organisation. What is made from T-shirts sales is minimal and goes to web hosting, domain registrations (we also run and pay for TrakDaze) and general promotion items. Nothing could cover the time and expenses the moderators put into this...
Donations also help, but as this a free site there is no regular cash flow.

I do this to fill a hole in my life.... Wife, kids, business, they just don't keep me busy enough..

In regard to Chris Seatons Dad, he didn't ask us to give him money. Sponsorship was one of numerous things we talked about on the weekend.

Why don't with start with a short list...

Then organise a couple of rides/get togethers and have a gold coin donation.. maybe a bbq.. That way we can see how much we can raise as a starter..

With 4 states we might get $200.. We might come up with $500... who knows.. But atleast we would have a ball park that we could start with.

Mean while we can have a chat to our short list and see what they want/expect and will offer us.

Then we can decide on 1 rider, or 2 riders.. whatever..

Perhaps there are simple things we could get back as well..

ie. a Ride day for KSRC members at EC, Winton, PI or where ever where they come along and help members out with their riding style etc.

I'm sure this sort of thing would help get them known amongst the club and certainly boost the numbers at local events cheering them on and showing them support.

Anyway who knows what they expect... Reality is that it costs heaps to race competitively and what we have to offer is a few $$$ and some support that money can't buy... Just a matter of finding someone who is appreciative of both really...

Dave, if you are the front man for discussions, I'll throw in hosting and a domain, etc if they want a website.. It might not be much but it is something on top of a few bucks I can afford to give.
