Have started getting this annoying disc squeal from the front brakes on the ZRX. Every time I stop the girl she's like eeeoieeeoieeeoi from about 15kmh to 0kmh and it's driving me mad.
Started out of the blue when the pads were pretty worn so I just thought "no prob" throw a new set in....did this but it continued!!!
Caused by pad vibration if the net info looked at is correct and so far have chamfered the pad edges with a file to make them less square (something I read would help) and cleaned the discs with brakecleaner (about 5 times!) but it's still doing it.
Had the same problem with my ZZR. I was told that it was dust build up so I removed the plates behind the callipers which allows the brakedust to escape- problem solved. I had been cleaning the discs with brakecleaner on a rag for a while which worked temporarily. Only negative is that the pads rattle a bit now, but it doesn't bother me like squealing brakes did!
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R Yeah I like Kawasakis.
So I took it down the road, got up to 100km, then braked really hard until I got down to 5kmph...... (in about 2 seconds)... repeated the process a few times and squeel is mostly gone....
I had a gander at the other thread. Avoid using sandpaper to rough up brake pads. Sandpaper leaves grit deposits in the pad which are not healthy to the discs.
Balanse, brakes only slow you down anyhow, why worry!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
on my car i used an anti squeel brake glue stuff you put on the back of the pad (between the pison and pad) and its like tacky gluey stuff and it works well.
its made by LOCTITE in a red little bottle.
apparently its stops pads vibrating..

oh...make sure the caliper is tight too...dont want it moving round after uve just done a pad change (simple but still)...are the discs warped at all?? or are the discs loose on the wheel??
