Advice on ZZR 1100 please
G'Day to all from a newbie to this forum.
I am currently looking at later ZZR 1100's (97-01). I am going for ones with as lower km's I can find and hope to find one with 40000km or less. I am after some advice about any specific faults or issues with these bikes that I should look out for. I've been really happy with my previous kwakas but they were all older than the ZZR. Also what is considered high kms these days? Also any issues that develop as time and mileage go on?
Any info/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Look for one that has been garaged all it's life. The mufflers can rust out on them and are exxie to replace with OEM stuff. Other than that the D models were pretty damn bullett proof! I have never seen any common faults really, till you start talking 100,000klms +!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

I will *never* forget chasing him through Redcliffe in 1983, as he bounced a Z1300 off the pegs through every corner, leaving a trail of sparks like an angle-grinder behind him

I rode his 96? model not long after he got it, it was mighty fast !! and that was stock - after all the mods I think that old barge was pushing out 140 or 150hp ???

ZZR1100, ZZR1200, ZX10 (old ones) GPZ900, and particularly GTR1000! Kawasaki have had twenty years to fix this problem!ross79 wrote:
Didn't the zzr1100s have trouble with cams being chewed up?? or am I mixing it up with something else?
That would be the ZZR1200 I think.

There's the problem with buying a cult bike... apart from the $9500 one, chances are there'll be no way to talk those down to a reasonable price.Ratmick wrote:2001 ZZR1100 for $12,500 (14,000km):

What did the last batches of 1100's go for back in '01? About 15k, with a rack and bag?
