Vibrating right grip on ZX6R

I need some advice about a problem with my '06 ZX6R.

The right hand grip is vibrating. It's not too bad for short rides, but after about 45 minutes, my hand gets quite numb. I almost cut my hand off on the trip back from PI it got that bad, and I need to get it fixed before the March PI trip.

I've tried replacing the bar ends, and I've bought some soft hand grips, but neither has fixed the problem.

Apparently my bike was laid over on the right hand side in the store prior to purchase, but everything was fixed under their insurance. I don't know if this was the cause or not - just adding information.

Any advice on things to check or fix suggestions?

Funny you should post this now I was thinking this morning if you got to the bottom of this problem, I will be interested as to what the fix is.

If the barends are secured in place and are both of equal weight, the only ideas i have are a) a bent right clipon as above or b) perhaps the plastic throttle twisty bit on the bar is frigged? there might be some damping rubber thats missing, or maybe even lubricating grease between the throttle twisty bit and the clipon? perhaps even i'd go as far as disassembling the right switchblock to make sure there's no damage.

Did you replace the bar ends with same weight or heavier ? Heavier weights *should* do the trick....

Soft grips could make the problem worse. What you may need is some Heli-bar replacement bars, that get the weight off your wrists....its something to consider anyway.

Come on Guys, it's a near new bike, replacing bars and such should not be an option, there must be a basic problem that is not obvious, any other 636 owners out there that have or had this problem?, must be a bike genius out there or do they all have this problem

I rode an 06 for 40 min, and my right hand went to sleep from vibrations

with the position you're head down bum up, and if you've got lot of weight on wrists, the bike's vibrations are going to come through the bars

i'm likely to be wrong, just from riding one on the weekend that's what I thought.

I think you are spot-on. For what its worth, my 12 also has noticeable vibes through the throttle, which is worse on boring stretches.....if you are *on the gas* well you don't notice it at all.......

Getting a throttle-rocker worked wonders, if only due to being able to reposition your throttle-hand,and use the base of your palm to keep the throttle twisted........didn't stop the vibes as such, just the effect.....

Would *not* recommend using a throttle-rocker if you are out fanging, but great for long boring sections.......

Doesn't sound like the 636 I had guys and gals!!! Mine was smooth as silk! I perhaps think there is a nut or bolt loose somewhere causing a vibration. Maybe when they repaired it, they forgot to tension something or didn't fit something properly.

Check the locating bolt that locks the clip on in position to the tripple clamp hasn't disappeared or the lug isn't broken, this can cause a buzz and is common if they are dropped.

Thanks for the ideas - I will have a look this weekend (or next - we're still in the middle of moving house).

Re: the throttle rocker - I used one on the trip. It helped, but I'm not happy with that as a solution. I honestly feel the vibrations are way more than they should be, even taking into consideration the ride angle of this bike.
