Metzler M1 front and rear fitted at 70307k, $400
Dunlop 220 front managed 30,700k, 220 rear was at 13800 when it was punctured. It had a fair bit of life left, unlike the front which was best part of stuffed. Had the rear puncture fixed so I can use it if I ever wanna go drag racing without screwing a decent tyre.
Am doing a track day in three weeks, and don't want to screw new tyres doing that either, but the shop had some used slicks which he sold me for a wapping $20.

If you are going to run slicks for the track day Mike, you may want to use tyre warmers. Let me know if you want to borrow them. You can borrow some stands too if you want. New Rear Pilot fitted last Tuesday at 29850 kays . Touching the wear indicators in the middle , nearly 9000 k , quiet happy . Just changed the original tyres. I was going to give M3s a try, but they would've taken two weeks to arrive.
I got 11,300 k's out of the first set of BT014s. The rear still had a bit of life left in it, the front was triangulating.
New tyres: BT014s again

Well after 13,730km I think it's time to change my rear pirelli diablo tyre. I reckon I can get another 3k out of it but not too keen in future insurance err 'discussions'
Replaced with a set of Shinkos ($325 a set.. yes that's correct) and all I can say is these are the BEST to date. Have always been thinking that tyres are tyres... well no more
With the previous front pilot powers, for example the lean is always 'abrupt' and once commited, difficult to change direction. Why.. with the shinko's mid-corder changes are soooo easy
... not sure whether this is due to tyre quality or change of profile (it's 120/70 instead of 120/65 zx6r standard) but very happy nevertheless....

I got a touch over 6000km out of a rear Shinko, and it wasn't quite on the wear marker when it was replaced. Probably could've got another 1000km out of it if I was being good. As expected, the front was only about half worn, but it was showing signs of cracking. They warm up unbelievably quickly.
I had 'em blue on a couple of occasions, and only once felt even a slight lack of confidence - when the front slid about 6 inches. I believe there was something on the road that I missed. It picked up pretty much where it left off - gave a bit of a jolt and got back to business. Lovely tyre, the front. Plenty of feel, plenty of confidence.
The rear profile's too flat. It makes quick direction changes a little harder than necessary, but again, they stick pretty well and tell you exactly what's happening. Add a little bit of muscle to the bars and all's well.
My verdict? I'm in a quandary whether to try the much vaunted M3 (after the current 002s) or simply go back to Shinkos.

Rides hard, turns well, grips real well, feels dead. Cold blooded and soulless. Dunno how long they'll last, but I'd take the Shinkos unless I was headed for a track day or three.

funnily enough i endedn getting 4000kms out of the dredded OEM BT 014
1 trackday saw it on the wear indicators, then some running around at home and a trip to the supers and back saw it through.
it ePilot power i took off for the island trip had 4500ks on it, and had seen 2 trackdays, and still would have made it tot he island and back i reackon. bloody shit OEM 014.
now i have another 014 on, see how that survives the good friday trackday
i got an 190 this time, si i dont get those "negative kishy strips" again.
