Metzler Sportec M1

has anybody tried the Metzler Sportec M1 tyres out before and what is your opinion

I started using them after hearing about them from Phil et al. and they are a bloody good tyre, better than the Diablo's I tried.

They are pretty pretty grippy, neutral steering & warm up pretty quickly but they are soft do wear out quite fast as a consequence.
Not the best in the wet either. But the best thing I've found with them is that they maintain exceptional grip qualities through-out their entire life ... even when shagged they are still pretty good.

Not my cup of tea though - wear out too fast for commuting.

yep, i've got em and love em. as mentioned earlier they have heaps going for them,

i tend to wear them pretty evenly as they get a good run on the edges come weekends

i've been thru heaps of them and find them to last as long as other tyrs i've had.

but the best thing about them has been mentioned already as well

they are a little more expensive than some tyres but i get them at a good price anyway

the other thing i like is the rounded profile, turns in alot smoother than a more triangular profiled tyre, thats why different tyres will suit different riding styles, i prefer a smooth transition from upright to fully cranked.

I think i've said it elsewhere.

We had the M1's on the K1200's for our 40+ laps of the Nurburgring. Awesome tyre, and the most confident i've ever felt on a bike.

I was so impressed, I think I'll be giving away my long term love affair with Bridgestone.

I've been to Tassie 4 times on a bike and I think a set of tyres would last about 3 weeks over there with those great roads.

Mario & Phil, you boys obviously have been down here and know what it's all about!!!
Commuting takes care of the tyre centres though but there is always a little bit left to sacrifice to the tyre gods

I was just having a dig at you Taswegians and referring to the size of the Island!!! however I would like to go down there and touring some of them roads.

I have been to Burnie and the roads up there were magnificent when driving a car. However cannot fathom how you still use "units" when having a bet on the horses, took abit of thinking about when had half a carton under the belt!!!

I haven't got a clue what you're talking about there. Never placed a bet on a horse & never been to a horse-track either.
