The Western Ring Rd and Westgate Fwy already do this, but with numberplate instead of face recognition.photomike666 wrote: France already do this. They have a set time between checkpoints, and the more you beat this time by, the more it costs you for the journey. They only use it on toll roads as far as I know.

This was the WA one

Western Australia's version of the "New Zealand Wheelie Bin Speed Camera."
What is wrong with this picture? It's setup to take pictures of the rear number plate, a first for Western Australia. Is this the Police response aimed at clamping down on motorbike riders for the first time now that they have the new "Driver ID" penalties in force?

NSW have had the Safe-T-Cam program running for trucks for a long time. The record the number plate at one point on the highway and then get you a few hundred km's down the road. Get between point A and point B to quick and you get a ticket to the policemans ball. The new M7 motorway has similar technology, not sure if its operated off your toll pass or plates, and picks you up at the exit you take. I have no doubt the system will be in full swing before too long.
