Got back from a holiday today and collected & fitted my shock.

Dave at Krooz Tune did indeed do the right thing by me.
He filled and gassed my new shock and advised me that the diaphragm was in perfect and re-useable condition, so only charged me the lower amount (honestly, how many companies would actually do this now days?!) :o

I fitted it when I got home, set the preload sag and went for a ride.
I instantly noticed that it absorbs bumps far better than the stocker and tends not to buck me off the seat so much!
Need to now go and give it a run in the mountains to give it a real test. 8)

What settings are you using on the shock?
I assume you have a late model Z1k as well? :?
Cheers bass'.

Settings - not 100% sure as, to be honest, I did not set it up or install the shock - I got my suspension guy here in Canberra (Laurie Smith from Suspension Smith - gotta give him a plug!) to do it.

I had the stock z1000 spring installed as Laurie had a look at both, did some testing and found that the ZX10 spring that came with the unit was for someone about 95kg, which I am not! So he put the stock Zed spring on the ZX10 and used the stock dogbones This therefore means the shock is working so much better for my weight and the ride height has risen slightly, so the turn in feels a it sharper.

Quite happy with the results for such a cheap mod -$250 all up installed etc.

I have on 03 model Z mate, but ut only had 6000km on when I got it a month ago so the suspension was not too bad. This is much better though.

I try and post a pic tomorrow!

I need to make some minor adjustments with the compression on the shock, but need to know whether it's the top screw adjuster (next to the reservoir - pic at top of page), or the bottom adjuster.......?
Excuse my ignorance....... :-p

The screw in the top is compression and the bottom is rebound, now i have to ask the question did you use the zed spring or the 6r spring?

Did he set the sag correctly like 5 to 10 mm of free sag, if its not right and you dont know whats what with the screws best take it back to the suspension dude and tell him about it its way easier to do that in the long run.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

the worst part od the Barra happens to turn the perfectly good Zed into a more than competent sports bike.

I researched the spring choice and decided to use the ZX636's spring.
The preload/ sag is spot on, it just seems a tad too slow to absorb sharp bumps.
I'd prefer to have a play with the settings myself and if I fugg it up, then take it back.

05/06 unit is a showa and the 03/04 unit is a kyb and if its still giving you trouble in a week or so sing out. :D

I will tell you what works from experiance anyway, removethe shockie from the bike and place in a vice.

Release the spring so its rattling around on the springperch then retighten so it has 5mm of preload and reinstall.

Adjust the rest of it to suit but i found a lot of the banging was a overadjusted spring and i wasnt the only one to find that out.
