Z1000 Clutch issues
Z1000 Clutch issues
My clutch is slipping above about 8,ooorpm, and the bike has only done 4,500kms from new (very hard kms though, a few track days and drag meets)
Has anyone on here replaced a z1000 clutch and can tell me what sort to get and where to get it from?
Thanks

If you've done a clutch in 4500klms, then i'd be starting to save up for that gearbox next!
Sounds like with the activity you are conducting and aftermarket item of additional strength may be a wise consideration!
Google Z1000 clutches and see what turns up! Barnett used to do reasonable stuff??? Not sure now though! I havn't used anything aftermarket in years sorry!

a Z i testrode had 7000 kms on it and it slipped at the same revs in 3rd gear onwards.
i've never had a problem yet, i thinkt he clutch would be a weakpoint. im not hard on the clutch.
it does more work on down shifts than upshifts.
but i did run an 11.001 stock... so maybe...

You will need new friction plates, and soon. Barnett and/or Hayes are worth a google. You should see if you can get h/d clutch springs as well, maybe even stock Kawasaki ones from a different model ?? Its worth checking out anyway...

Just out of interest, what oil are you using? With a wet clutch, particularly the kwak one, fully synth is not recomended. I've heard run normal oil for the first 8k then semi after that.
