M3 or Pilots road?which is a better commuting tyre!

G'day all, my rear Pilot roads are comming to an end after 16K Klm's of commuting and riding 2up, I have a set of M3's under the bed ready to go, but was thinking of how they would wear or long they will last! was trying to decide on weather to keep them for a track day some time in the future and purchuse a new rear Pilot road or use the M3's and purchuse a pilot power and see how things go from there.

I need to decide pretty soon, I already have 2front tyres to pick from, the tyres on my honda are at there last leg, and I cant not ride for too much longer, thanks.

I think that battlax BT 54 are a good touring rubber

Those bt54 last for ages I think I got like 15000kms out of a rear but if you want to do twisties and stuff they lack feel.

I was thinking about putting a m3 on the back for a bit to see how it goes, I have a shinko 003 on there at the moment got 6000kms on it and it had way more grip than a bt54.

A lot of the guys at work like pilot road but they do square off pretty easy.

I've had the old M1s on my CBR600, got 15k out of the rear commuting, 29k from the front. Have done track days with them almost new, and grip was very good. Have been told the M3s grip better and last as long, if not longer!

Perosnally i'm kinda sold on Pilot road rear and Pilot sport front, having said that, front is due to be replaced once I pay my speeding fines so might even look at something different.

Im runnin a BT54 Rear and BT021 front, for commuting and the occasional blat through the twisties they are perfect for me.
Cant seem to wear that rear out, its not super sticky, but i havent come off yet either.

Think ill find my limits before i find the tyres.

wow ok thanks guys,I sort off agree that the Pilot road do square off, I like the sound of the M1s lasting the distance, as I have the exact bike photoMike rides, but when i speak to other riders the allways praise Pilots! I agree there not the stickest but with my experince Im comparing it to a pilot sport which was original on the bike when I purchesed it.

Did I say M3's I really meant the M1's. there being relaced by the M3's.ok keep on deciding,then find who can give me a good deal on a rear tire if I decde on a Pilot!

Well looking at a mates bike on monday(courier) and he had pilot road 2s on so there is a new breed of pilot roads about....dont know if they are dual compound but may be worth a look.

Been looking at the Pilot Power CT2's, heard great raps on them, dual compound tryes. Basically means they have a hard centre for less wear & stickier/softer sides for max cornering grip. Bloody pricey tho, saving $600 for a set now!!

I'm no expert but here is what I think.
Pilot Roads should last you longer as it iis suited more to touring. The M3 is more comparable to Pilot Powers.
Still all depends on how you ride how long your tyres will last.

nah these are pilot road 2 and they recon according to their blub they are the best wearing best handling in the wet thing.

Phill fair go they where tested by a independent French laboratory

I will probably go a set of these myself next time but my bike is a bit lighter than the target market.
