Hello all,
I bought my first Kawasaki yesterday! It is a 2005 ZZR600. It is a "fixer upper," but I am not worried have a lot of experience with bikes, cars, mechanical things.
I now own two bikes, this and a '99 Suzuki Marauder VZ800 (cruiser style), that I am chopping at the moment.
I bought the ZZR600 because it was a good deal, and I can get it up and drivable (ugly though) with little to no effor and have a bike while my Rauder is getting chopped.
I have NO experience on a sport bike, so hopefully I won't hurt myself or the bike too bad (that is why I bought a fixer upper).
If anyone has suggestions on places to get parts (body panels, and engine components, OEM or aftermarket) please let me know.
I am currently in Idaho, USA, but will be moving to South Carolina, USA, here shortly since I am in the military.
I am trying to get as much info about this bike as possible, so if anyone can give me some tips (ie what other years/models have same engine, body panels etc.)
Hopefully this forum will be as much help as the Marauder forum I am on.
Chris

g'day mate, from memory "your" zzr600 is infact an older model zx6r (j, 00-01 model i'm pretty sure) as sold here. our zzr6's were the same as your zx6 (not zx6r
). miguel duhamel won the ama supersport on a 92
model i think.
they are a great bike, ever better were the ones with the 636 mota. some of your spec's may be different to ours being a us spec.

I would post a picture, but I am not sure it would help (ALL the body panels are off and the head is off right now, nor does it have the headlight or guage cluster.) If you think it would help I can though.
BTW, I have been trying to find a service manual for this bike, but the only thing I can find are older ZZR600 and ZX6 manuals, but all of them have the cam gears in the middle of the engine (splitting 2-3 cylinders), however my bike has the cam gears on the right side of the engine.
I wouldn't care too much (since I know what I am doing with mechanical systems) except I don't know how to time the cams with the crank (not even close to what the other models have for timing marks). I will post something in the tech area just in case.
Thank you for your help so far!

welcome aboard! nice ride! can I take it for a spin when I'm in the states later this year?
and we want pics, I reckon more than half the people who post regularly here could identify model and year of any kwak from a twisted hunk of rearset or a cracked piece of fairing... -J.
