The latest Rapid has a very good test on the new Z1000, so far just the tacho and the narrower seating position is the best upgrades I like.

Regarding the Tacho, It was ok..... nothing superb, what i DID like was the new fuel gage! thats pretty cool.... The 06 model has the same one as my bike I believe and I thought it was just as good (except for the fuel gage).

How well does that fuel gauge work? I would have thought with all the leaning and acceleration etc that it would misreport it a lot of the time.

Guess it's still effective at a standstill! ;)
Listening to you is like being bukkaked with stupid.

most of these electronic ones average it over a few seconds..... so if it samples 15 seconds, it takes the average..... so if that is the case it would be fairly accurate

If i have half a tank while riding, i can stop the bike for the night and find when i turn it on in the morning the fuel light flashes at me, once i start riding again it goes back to half a tank.

As for the footpeg height you were wary of, it's just a subjective thing. You are used to having your knees tucked up on the 6 and so when you rode the 1000 it felt like your feet were only mm off the ground didn't it? I had a similar experience after swapping bikes with a mate on a ride I jumped off the 9 and onto his 1200 Bandit. Damn it felt like I was riding with Harley highway pegs it was that different. But in reality there is a heap of clearance, maybe not as much as a full sports bike, but more than enough for everyday riding. Its just your mind playing tricks.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.
