BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT'S FUGGIN MADE FOR! That is its purpose in life, its reason for existence. It is cool and sexy because it is a tool focused on getting from point A to point B in minimum time and it does the job well. If you buy it because of this coolness and then ride it badly and inappropriately, you are a poser feeding off the bikes reputation. Lame. Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone with a sportbike should fang it everywhere on the roads, but riding slower should be a choice. For a shit rider, using the bike properly isn't even an option, so there's no choice. And of course the bike should be taken to the track too. I started off with a Yamaha FZRR-250, then went to a ZX-7R. I thought that was a big step. Then I bought an 05 ZX-10R.
Can't speak highly enough of the power and the buzz it gives you when you open it up. Funny how you get some little turbo sports cars wanting to race you, but one gear will fix that.
My only annoying this I found was the heat coming from the bike was enough to fry your legs and groin. But I was willing to overlook this because it was so much fun. A little hairy in the wet taking off, but I wouldn't go back to anything less the 1000cc now.
Would recommend some experience before taking one on full time, but you couldn't smack the smile from my face......

Kristy - for what its worth, I reckon you should try out a 600 first, and see what you think of them. They go plenty fast, and they look great. The ZX6 owners here have plenty of experience, and could probably recommend a good model - some were a lot better than others. I have never owned a 6 (ridden a few though), and it could be a good step up from the smaller bike, before you bite the bullet and get a 10.

And although you may see all these posts attacking you for your god given right to choose what bike you are going to get......
take a step back from it all and actually look what the messages are, not necessarily the words used..... but pretty much all the messages are that people would rather see you progress as a rider in a safer manner..... sure ppl have differing ways of saying it, but the end message remains the same, they would prefer you to get a smaller bike that is more suited to your experience level and become a more competent and experienced rider who can chill out and enjoy some KSRC rides......rather than doing what a hell of a lot of ppl do and go out grab a late model litre bike..... and risk throwing it down the road.....and if you are not so lucky end up seriously injured or at worst killing yourself on it.....
Although you may be controlled etc when you ride, if a situation arises which induces panic, then that right hand of yours will possibly control whether you make it or not, and on a late model litre bike there is certainly not much room for error....

Having just stepped up from my beloved ZZR250 to the 600, I can tell you that riding one, and riding on one, are two very different things; have been pillion on the Hoonda sometimes. I kept the 250 for 4 years, learning to be a more careful, more confident rider, who wasn't bothered by faster riding friends and relatives putting crap on me/my riding/250's/kawasaki's in general....
And now I scare myself every time I get on Felix, still getting used to the way it handles etc, but mostly the power response from the tiniest wrist movement.
Working at a bike shop, I am amazed at the amount of people who step up to bigger(usually 750+) bikes, only to trade them in 6mths for something with a little less cc's, as they've freaked themselves out on it and are frightened on them.
And the last rider I saw doing something because her partner thought it was a good idea, broke her neck. Literally.

Yep the DVD is called High Octane I've got the whole series. It was in Germany on the Autobarn. The supra was heavily worked, over 800hp. The 12 didn't have many mods done to it, just an exhaust.
TT supras are fast, but there's No way a stock Supra will do those sorts of speeds! as we own one. Even Wisc will agree with me on this as he's got one too.
