I might try and dodge the showers tomorrow and do a short run over some rough roads to make sure nothing shakes loose before I head off on the next trip!

Re: The Beemer Saga!
Spent today in the shed fitting the new subframe bracket to mount the top box up properly. It was a pretty straight forward job with everything fitting up nicely. It just took a while as loads of stuff had to be removed a few times to get a perfect fit. Also the ducktail had to have two scallops cut into it to allow the subframe bracket to exit. That prolly took the most amount of time. While there, I replaced a faulty o-ring on the timing chain cover fixing that leak! While doing this I discover a leak in the rear final drive seal!!!
Farking hell, this thing is a fuckin wreck so far!!
Oh well, at least once fixed it should be right for another 20,000klms!

Re: The Beemer Saga!
I finally got busy in the shed today, fitting the cruise control which I had bought a while back and which arrived while the bike was in NSW being repaired yet again!
Apparently the story goes, that the part I fitted is a French or Italian spec Police bike part. Essentially it friction locks the throttle internally on the outer of the nylon throttle cam. It had a knurled screw adjuster to set the required friction point. It replaces part of the standard housing. Pic below.
I then went out and tested it on the freeway for an hour. It is easy to wind on and set. It can be set at a level where it will hold the throttle, but not so much that it makes it difficult to adjust the throttle with your hand. Nice. It's only real fault is that it doesn't have an emergency kill setting. But realistically, you just close the throttle, and as this is easy it won't effect safety!

Re: The Beemer Saga!
Well guys n gals.........I rode the Beemer up to Sydney yesterday..................Surprisingly enough it made it without breaking down! I got right to the Hotel where I am staying and not even a blown globe??????
Not to worry but......as when I checked in and then went to start it to move it into the carpark......it naturally wouldn't start!!!!
Not sure yet if it's a charging system failure or if it's just a dud battery yet as it's in the hands of a mechanic. Being away from home means no tools!!!!
Anyhow, I just thought it might brighten everyones day up a bit to know that the Beemer has remained true to form and let me down on every trip so far!!!

Can I be there when you decide enough is enough and kick the living shit out of the beemer Marty? I'll make sure there's a Kawasaki in the background so I can get a good photo for the Summer Photo Comp, it'd be a winner for sure
