I find it funny that the guy is considering Dunlop touring tyres, which would suggest the need for a hard wearing tyres, and everybody is offering opinion on soft tyres.

There is a deal on at the moment for Metzler M1s, I have done, many, many, many, many KMs on these and had no real issues. Don't get me wrong, they grip well for a harder tyre, I've even done track days on em and scraped pegs. But I got 15,000Km from each rear and 29,000Km from each front (without Trackdays). They grip Ok in the wet too (Wet track day at PI was OK). I tried Dunlop 220s, hated the profile but got maybe an extra 1000Km out of them compared with the M1s.

I find it funny that you may not consider 1. That was what was on them so he suggested them.... or 2.Had them on his last bike thinks they were good. or ......3.Knows no different and therefore is asking opinions!

If however he had stated he is looking for a hard wearing touring tyre which will give him long mileage and he's not worried about grip, then I would have answered accordingly. But one would also, once considering the bike they are going to go on (636), without being told otherwise, suggest something more sporting in nature! A touring tyre on a bike like that will never get to operating temp!
