nice find. but on the subject of telemarketers.............am quite short with most.........
1) to long a pause after saying hello,.... hang up usually international exchange
2) if reply and spiel starts interject, "what are you trying to sell me?' hang up
yesterday answer phone using usual techniques.....call one) pause on pick up........hang up
call two) hello is sue there.....indian accent....not interested hang up
call three) hello its john from ####### where my wife works...oops
hmm yer telemarketers have it hard too u know, it has to be about the worst job in the world , do u think they enjoy it , i know i sure as hell dont ! but its better than having a job were i have to spell alot , i guess
dont dispute that alicia....."teles have it hard"........there must be thousands of people like me who really dont like being offered things they dont want in the privacy of their own homes at times they dont wish to be disturbed ......
and make quick judgements as to the source of a call
good luck with your marketing.... and i hope i'm not rude to you on the phone one day
A good standard answer I always give telemarketers is "Excuse me, do you pay for this phone line???" They always answer no. "No thats right, I do. This means I get to choose who I want to talk to on this line and that does not include YOU! Goodbye!" hang up.
I'm sorry to all you telemarketers out there but FUCK OFF! We get enough advertising via other mediums and don't need you to use a phone line you don't pay for trying to sell products we most likely don't want. I personally could not do that job because I have certain moral/social standards that won't allow me to get paid to do in my opinion, unethical work. Much the same reason I couldn't be an ambulance chaser, parking warden, traffic officer or many other parasite vocations. Get a new job and stop supporting these companies!
1/ As most have an 'Anglican' name ie 'Bruce', I play along that I am from an organisation that is against the loss of the traditional Indian names and that for a small fee I can assist them in regaining their true identity
2/ I advise them that I am on the ADMA's do not call list (which I am) and try to get a postal address from them so I can write to their company so I can get how they got my number and why they are calling me so I can use it in court. I haven't been able to get a postal address yet, but it does cut down repeat offenders
