Man 'fractured skulls of two four-month-old girls'

A British man has appeared in Orange Local Court charged with fracturing the skulls of two four-month-old twin girls.
The man was dressed in casual clothing when brought to the dock from custody to face two charges of causing grievous bodily harm and two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
As the court sat to hear his bail hearing, the two girls were in critical condition in Westmead Hospital.
The full facts of the case were not revealed in court but it is understood the alleged offences took place at Ermington in Sydney, where the man lived, but the children were only admitted to hospital later in Orange, more than four hours' drive away.
The man was interviewed, arrested and charged after Orange Base Hospital staff alerted police to the children's condition.
