I am looking at purchasing a Slip On exhaust (for an ER6F) and have seen many posts abouts the sounds of exhaust and the popping noise and associated PAIR valve fix, etc. However when browsing online for different exhaust I noticed that the Scorpion for example mentions:
High quality and high-performance mufflers with model-specific design; requires no re-mapping or re-jetting. Never requires repacking.
OK so I believe I understand the re-jetting/re-mapping... but what is "repacking"?
Do some exhausts (only talking slip ons) require some form of maintenance?
Hey sarakoth,
I have put an irrigation T valve in the vacuum hose that goes from the airbox to the rocker cover thingo, to stop the popping (if I ever wanted to! ).
You'll have to look at a workshop manual (or host pics with your tank off) of your bike as to what hose it actually is.
A good quality muffler for a 4 stroke road bike will last years & years before needing to be repacked with the fibreglass/ steel gauze packing.
Just fit a quality pipe and your friends will love how your bike shoots flames when it 'pops'!
Daz.
